Shaman Dance is a powerful exploration of the ancient art of shamanic rituals, paying homage to Princess Bari, worshipped by Korean shamans as the patron goddess of the afterlife. The Cloud Maker’s music takes audiences on a mythical journey, tapping into timeless power and the mysticism of legendary figures from diverse cultures. In Shaman Dance, the collective brings together a blend of Maori language vocals by Te Kahureremoa Taumata, Aviva Endean’s prepared piano drones and explosive clarinet, Freya Schack-Arnott’s virtuosic cello, Maria Moles’ bounding drums, and Sunny Kim’s evocative vocalisations.

This song was written to honour and celebrate the tides of new sacred blood.
It is a remembering of our connection to the moon whose cycles we sync with.
It is a celebration for the womb - Te whare tāngata - the house of the people.
This song is a gentle friend telling you to come rest with them as you flow.

@thecloudmakermusic is a collective of female creatives who gather together and take on the powerful themes inspired from the goddesses from each of their cultures. Channelling ancient tales of fierce battles, shaman dances, journeys to the after-life, and a moth goddess singing the most beautiful song of all time, The Cloud Maker harnesses the power of these archetypal stories to transport listeners across time and space.
Head to the PBS YouTube channel to watch the full clip of The Cloud Maker performing 'Shaman Dance' in #PBSStudio5Live, and listen back to hear the full set and interview with host Lloyd Briggs here: pbsfm.org.au.
