Running until the end of May, the @joltarts Autumn Season spans everything from avant-garde noise to classical Indian tabla, acousmatic opera to stand-up comedy; all threaded through JOLT’s commitment to neurodiverse artists and pushing sound into unexpected territory. Highlights include I Hold The Lion's Paw (IHTLP) and guests at @northcotesocialclub on Wednesday May 27. Drawing from the abstract playgrounds of their third studio album, Potentially Interesting Jazz Music, IHTLP are hosting a surrealist happening. Expect grungy durational performance, psychedelic ambience, unhinged funk, spoken word, avant-garde electronics, and (of course) some potentially interesting Jazz music. Check out the full program and get your tickets via: pbsfm.org.au. 📷 @duncographic

Blending searing, emotive vocals with a washed-out, psychedelia-steeped sonic palette, @ruby.jones.music crafts a tempestuous and hauntingly beautiful sound that is uniquely her own. Jones cut her teeth on the local scene before rising to international prominence as a core member of Clairy Browne & The Bangin' Rackettes. Now, with her sophomore album Souvenir slated for release in 2026, Jones turns her gaze outward. The record wrestles with themes of existential climate threats, intergenerational trauma, guilt, loss and ultimately rebirth, delivering a body of work as urgent as it is timeless. Don't miss when Ruby Jones stops by PBS for a special Studio 5 Live performance on Stone Love. Tune in on Friday May 15 from 5pm for this exclusive set and interview with host @richie1250 . This week’s #PBSFeatureAlbum is Train on the Island, the fifth LP from Aotearoa musician and songwriter @aldousharding . The 10-track record was co-produced with long-time collaborator John Parish (PJ Harvey, Dry Cleaning, Sparklehorse) at Rockfield Studios in Monmouth, Wales, where the pair recorded Harding’s previous albums Party (2017), Designer (2019) and Warm Chris (2022). Musical contributions to the new recordings come from pedal steel player Joe Harvey-Whyte; harpist Mali Llywelyn; synth artist Thomas Poli; drummer Sebastian Rochford (Polar Bear); and Huw Evans (H. Hawkline), across bass, vocals, acoustic/electric guitar, and organ. Tune in all this week to hear tracks from Train on the Island, and check out this week's full list of #PBSFeatureSounds on our website: pbsfm.org.au. #pbsfm #communityradio
