Spotlight on SATURDAY DAYTIME PERFORMANCES at AUDIBLE EDGE
A full day program of participatory walks, sessions and talks awaits on Saturday May 2. Here's what's happening performance-wise!
— Make-Shift, DIY contemporary dance/sound collab instigators, present a manifestation of their bi-monthly series, where work-in-progress is shared and discussed
— Saskia Willinge, Uma Volkmer & Naoko Uemoto present Seed Fund instigated new work based on real and imaginary research of Lake Jualbup
— Prolific drummer Maria Moles - collaborator of Jonnine, Francis Plagne, Jules Reidy, Helen Svoboda & many others - plays with Boorloo's beloved free-folk spellbinder Jameson Feakes. Friends since the early days of Tone List reuniting ❤️
— Mark Cain launches Threads on Tone List's label. A reignition of his practice of circular breathed sheets-of-sound soprano saxophone, we're thrilled to have one of the original Boorloo avant-improvisers join our roster.
C U THERE! Tickets moving unprecedently fast.

Such a special experience meeting and learning from Kulintang master Hadaya Tarbamg and Bryan Batu Ellorimo in Davao city yesterday. I’ve been interested in this instrument for some years now so it was amazing to learn some of the foundations in traditional kulingtang. I learnt two basic traditional songs, the first titled ‘Bunok Bunok’ about rainfall, and the second titled ‘Sinayawan’, meaning to dance 🫶
Very excited to be playing with the Amplified Elephants next weekend for the last ever @_absorb__ at @miscellania_ we’ll be playing on Saturday at 3.30pm

Thinking about Rắn Cạp Đuôi’s next level sound wall with Maria Moles and Rama Parwata completing a 3-drum-set power trio, alongside 4 guitars and a flute, all following a mind-bending set from Jon Smeathers.
DJ Noon weaving sound between sets, holding all the energies.
Huge thanks to everyone who came down to Miscellania a few Saturdays ago — the room was electric.

Fresh from electrifying performances at WOMADelaide and Phoenix Central Park, these five boundary-pushing virtuosos don Kate Davis’ mesmerising costumes to physically embody their mythic inspirations. Fierce battles, shamanic rituals, and journeys to the afterlife unfold, rendered in sound that feels simultaneously ancient and boldly contemporary.
Born on the snow-capped peaks of Canada and refined in the Adelaide Hills, The Cloud Maker’s music reimagines powerful goddess mythologies through an intoxicating instrumental palette: Te Kahureremoa Taumata’s ancestral Maori Tāonga Pūoro (including hauntingly beautiful nose and bone flutes), Aviva Endean’s experimental approach to clarinets and winds, Freya Schack-Arnott’s emotionally charged cello and Nordic nyckelharpa, Maria Moles’ propulsive drumming, and Sunny Kim’s evocative vocals.
Thanks to @phoenixcentralpark and @gxbriellemxry for the photo.

Two of Naarm’s most inventive drummers, Maria Moles and Rama Parwata, come together for an improvised percussion set. Building on the connection they’ve developed since their 2023 release Melanges, this performance at Miscellania as part of Inter.Sonix 05 will continue this important conversation.

From Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Liquid Architecture presents the chaos driven, multi-genre fusing, cyborg friendly futurist punks Rắn Cạp Đuôi. At the forefront of sound art and experimental music in Vietnam since their formation in 2015, their anachronistic musical approach spans a twisted reimagining of 90’s electronica to freeform apocalyptic-sound-possession.
Ornamenting the program will be the Nipaluna/Hobart based artist and organiser Jon Smeathers on expanded CDJ, and a duo of drums from Maria Moles and Rama Parwata. DJ Noom will be selecting recorded music before and between performances.
