About the sound:
‘Dan les arbes’ is an idiosyncratic French-Norwegian quartet featuring French clarinetist Xavier Charles and Norwegian pianist-electronics player Christian Wallumrød, guitarist Ivar Grydeland and percussionist Ingar Zach. The quartet has been constructing its collective sound and spontaneous group-composing based on unusual combinations of airy, wooden, metallic sounds, prepared strings and tampered drum heads, unorthodox, extended techniques and subtle electronics, over the last twenty years.
‘bodies of divine infinite and eternal spirit’ are a Naarm-based experimental sound group of rotating collaborators. They aim to work against genre and toward surrender. The music is centred on layered repetitions and sporadic improvisations. 37 members of the group will perform and launch their most recent work; a 46-minute long song titled ‘disaster 1’.

37 members of the group known as ‘bodies of divine infinite and eternal spirit’ join Absorb with a full-length record coming out in June.
For now, please save the evening of Saturday June 6th - launch details coming next week ⭕️

Absorb, 2026
r hunter’s Yield is out now ! 🧭
What does it mean to be a formalist today? In the past someone might say something like: “I love form, OK...! The moving, emancipatory promise of Numbers—have you heard of it?” “I structure things in a way that expresses my desire to defer musical decision to a place beyond my own expressive intellect.” And then a sound might play sounding like nothing that has come before it, alien to an ear’s comprehension. But rather than the sense that ‘form’ (as if it were something pure) liberates expression at the expense of romantic authorship, the project of r hunter’s Yield says, I think, something different about the edifice of limits.

ABSORBED with akka 🪞
Welcoming Shareeka Helaluddin to the Absorb label’s monthly mix series on LYL Radio. Shareeka is a boundaryless sound artist, community facilitator and sometimes-DJ, who until recently was the executive producer and heart of @fbiradio ’s esteemed Race Matters program. Under the pseudonym akka, she fuses found-sounds and field recordings, tracing outlines of memories that draw inspiration from her mixed-multifaith lineage. There is a real vastness to the scope of her work but like all akka soundscapes, this new contribution is a beautiful patchwork, and highly recommended listening to anyone and everyone
@_aakkaa about the mix:
“amidst the relentless fight I have attempted to hold onto moments of shared energy, quiet poetics of togetherness, praying with friends. this thing called collective effervescence. tried to bring together songs and sounds that take me beyond my own grievous, anxious thoughts and that remind me that when we can’t hold onto certainty, we hold onto each other. really, this entire mix was inspired by one minute in a youtube video by rian phin talking about precious renee tucker creating beautiful moments for collective reflection”
As always, the recording is archived on Absorb’s Soundcloud account for later listening. Visit the link in bio and share with others who may enjoy.
ABSORBED with Annalee Koernig 🔕
The label welcomes Annalee Koernig to its monthly mix series on LYL Radio, a defining force behind Make It Up Club since 2006, current host of Imitating a Nightingale on 3CR and former co-director of the infamous “Avant-Noise-Breakcore” collective Black Lotus. This recording captures her vinyl set live from the ABSORBED Festival just passed.

ABSORBED with xato ⚙️
As the dust settles from our recent festival edition, (especially if you’re a new supporter), please note that Absorb runs a monthly radio show on @lyl_radio . The mix series has been running since 2021 and zeroes in on a wide range of sounds: some hyperlocal, others from artists across different scenes and places. All 34 episodes are about an hour long, completely different from one another, and archived on SoundCloud for listening.
This month’s episode comes courtesy of xato, a Greek, Vienna-based artist, producer & audio engineer, who has made a name for himself in the electronic and rap scenes worldwide with his heavy-hitting sound. His career has expanded from ambient/drone music to extremely fast and heavy club music, and this mix captures most of his influences. In addition, xato runs the evo-natura label, which has released Ice_Eyes, KAVARI and Kagami Smile.
Please share with others who may enjoy!
MUSIC!
From the bottom of our hearts… thank you to all involved who made the past weekend ABSORBED possible. Inside the walls of Miscellania, what this festival has become over the past five years has exceeded our wildest dreams. It has been meaningful and life-changing beyond words, and the hope and inspiration will stay with us forever.
MUSIC? would not have been possible without the 50+ artists who played and performed some of the most unforgettable scenes and sounds we have truly ever experienced; the sound team Alex, Bensin and Errol for perfectly executing all our insane schemes; the Queensberry Street Co-operative for keeping everyone nourished and alive; Inkala for the stupefying light show; the entire team at Miscellania for hosting us and making everything run; Goblin Soundsystem for the most legendary evolution of Middlezorb imaginable; Wei, Dylan and Tim for the artwork and design; JOLT Arts for facilitating rehearsals, backline and our decompression; Shouse for further rehearsal facilitation; Zac for your help making the year five t-shirts come to life; all the people who travelled from interstate to be there (despite F1 price-hikes); Wishful Thinking, Adelaide Festival, Room40, ACMI, Liquid Architecture and Brunswick Music Festival for partnering with us on the DJ /rupture tour; the community radio hosts at PBS, RRR, FBi and 4ZZZ for interviewing artists across the program; the drivers for volunteering their time to help drive our guests around; and last but not least the best, most radiant, hopeful, holy, unlimited audience of listeners and dancers we could have ever wished for. It because of you and your energy that this party was the special thing that it was. ABSORBED will not be returning, at the very least for now, and likely not as we have known it. In the meantime, the label will continue in full swing with releases launching and label events occurring throughout the rest of the year. Once again, thank you for everything. Soi forever.
We opened our doors last night for an evening of trance and euphoria, singing and storytelling. Thanks to the artists: Lisa Lerkenfeldt, Marcus Whale, Penrith Miers Archive and bodies of divine infinite and eternal spirit 🪽
The final festivities continue today from 12pm. The winding road begins with DJ performances by Fia Fiell, Noise In My Head and Annalee Koernig, alongside new live collaborations, including Tati au Miel with Bhenji Ra, and another between Maria Moles and Australia’s leading sound art ensemble of artists with neurodiversities, The Amplified Elephants.
Later tonight we morph into more propulsive forms, with sets by Takkak Takkak (the duo of DJ Scotch Egg and Mo’ong of Raja Kirk), and the label’s IDM trio r hunter, gi and Third Space, + much more
