What is the APAA? The Association of Professional Art Advisors (APAA) is a non-profit membership organization representing the world’s leading independent art advisors, curators, and corporate art curators. Founded in 1980, the APAA is the only international standard-setting organization for the practice of art advisory. Today, more than 185 vetted advisors across 33 cities are united by a shared commitment to furthering the profession. What makes an APAA advisor different? Our mission is to uphold the highest standards of integrity and connoisseurship, foster education and transparency in the art world, and promote the value of art in both public and private life. APAA advisors help collectors define their tastes, build meaningful collections, and steward them with care—guided by ethics, expertise, and experience. With Art Week in full swing in New York City, take a closer look at highlights from Bonhams 20th & 21st Century Art auctions, now on view at 111 West 57th Street. Across four auctions, and spanning generations and artistic movements, Bonhams auctions trace a compelling arc of artistic evolution. “Our inaugural 20th & 21st Century Art Evening Sale at our new U.S. flagship headquarters marks an exciting and momentous new chapter for Bonhams in New York,” commented Oliver Morris-Jones, Head of Sale, 20th & 21st Century Evening Sale at Bonhams. “To present such an extraordinary range of works in our new space, from a monumental Yoshitomo Nara to seminal sculptures and paintings by blue-chip artists like Constantin Brancusi, Rene Magritte, and John Chamberlain, is both an honor and a testament to the strength of this season’s offering. It has been incredibly rewarding to see the response as visitors come through the galleries to experience these works in person, and we were pleased to recently welcome collectors and members of APAA onsite to preview the highlights.” Discover @bonhams1793 ‘s auctions at the link in our bio. _ #apaa #bonhams #nycartweek #artauction #contemporaryart @olgadeamaral Olga de Amaral, “Imagen Perdida 35” and “Yoshitomo Nara, …Words Mean Nothing at All” at Bonhams New York Flagship Constantin Brancusi, “La Muse endormie II” A Lasting Impression: The Renoir Collection of Gabrielle Renard Rene Magritte, “Le Miroir Vivant” Post-War & Contemporary Art at Bonhams Impressionist & Modern Art at Bonhams

Last night at SFMOMA for the opening and dinner celebrating Matisse / Femme au chapeau: A Modern Scandal. The exhibition reunites many of the paintings originally shown together at the 1905 Salon d’Automne in Paris for the first time in more than a century, recreating the moment Femme au chapeau first shocked audiences and helped define Fauvism. Especially striking was SFMOMA’s restaging of the original Salon gallery. Artist and designer Ondrea Vicklund created the custom wallpaper for the installation using archival photographs and decorative motifs from the historic Salon d’Automne, transforming the gallery into a richly atmospheric setting for the paintings. An exceptional exhibition. @sfmoma @ondreavicklund @janet_bishop

What a whirlwind that NY Spring Art week always becomes, filled with nonstop energy, reunions, and incredible art around every corner. Yesterday, well… Flat Toma made the rounds through the VIP preview of @friezenewyork at The Shed in Hudson Yards, and the atmosphere was absolutely buzzing. It was so great seeing familiar faces from across the art world while also discovering fresh new works and exciting presentations throughout the fair. There’s always something special about the way New York transforms during fair week, the entire city starts to feel like one giant exhibition. From there, we headed onward to @newartdealers , one of our favorite fairs to visit year after year. We’ve always loved the spirit of NADA in Miami, and seeing that same adventurous energy translated into New York makes it such an exciting addition to the week. The fair continues to champion emerging voices and risk-taking work in a way that feels refreshing and necessary amidst the larger fair landscape. One of the highlights was getting to see our Kansas City friends at @gallerybogart presenting work by @youngbauhaus , and we were so excited to catch up and spend time with the work in person. Moments like that are what make fair week so meaningful, supporting friends, reconnecting with the community, and discovering artists pushing things in exciting directions. As an art advisor and proud member of @the_apaa - we love visiting the fairs and getting a pulse on what’s new and exciting in the primary art market. We’re just getting started and ready to hit even more fairs this week. Let us know what exhibitions, booths, or artists you’re most excited to see, and thanks for coming along for the ride with us. Shoutout @markallen.ltd for the reel !

@newartdealers presents the 12th edition of NADA New York this week at the Starrett-Lehigh Building in West Chelsea, bringing together 120 galleries, art spaces, and nonprofit organizations from 15 countries. APAA members share what they’ll be watching at this year’s fair: ➡️ Kansas Smeaton, “What Love Did Then, Love Does Now,” 2026 at @lalomagallery “This painting by Kansas Smeaton caught our eye for its vibrancy and captivating narrative,” notes Emily Havens (@havensartadvisory ). ➡️ Molly Lowe, “Domestic Embrace,” 2023 at @marinarogallery “The fluidity of boundaries between figuration and abstraction informs Lowe’s paintings in a visceral way. Along the lines of Christina Quarles, we see bodies melded in spaces too small to contain them, and within these constraints, innovation shines,” shares Cris McCall (@mccallartadvisory ).
