My phone reminded me that 10 years ago I was finishing this painting titled “Milk”. At the time I was attempting to make paintings that reflected how I came into art making - by painting graffiti in the streets & train yards. I wanted the paintings to exude this energy and embody the same unpolished exploration,disobedient physicality and presence. I really started getting into the idea of inviting people to spontaneously interact with the work. GRASP marks a return to my first love — the screen printing process. After experimenting with so many different techniques over the years, I wanted to come back to something that feels raw, direct, and honest. Screen printing has always mirrored the way I build my paintings — layer by layer, rhythm by rhythm — revealing structure through repetition and chance.
