Well - TEDx Arglye Street (2025) was a hands down, knockout success! We could not be more pleased, proud, or honored! Our speaker lineup was beyond our hopes - thrilling, inspiring, and authentic. We are humbled by the support and positive feedback by speakers and attendees, so much so that we can’t wait to do it again in 2026! We (the many volunteers) thank Fatu M. Kaba for bringing this idea to life. We thank The Light House Arts Center for making us all look SO DARN GOOD! We will share the YouTube links one available! @lighthouseartscentre @debate.thestandpoint @futurpreneur Canada @soulsharbour @speakersns @vodaretreats

One of our speaker @morganenglundmusic said that : « more first responders die by suicide than in the line of duty » Behind every uniform is a human being carrying the weight of trauma, pressure, exhaustion, and silence. The people we call heroes every day are often fighting battles no one sees. This conversation is uncomfortable, but necessary. Because mental health support should never come after tragedy. To every firefighter, police officer, paramedic, nurse, dispatcher, and frontline worker: your life matters beyond the job. I’m so excited to share that I’ll be performing at TEDxArgyle St in Halifax!!! Two years ago, I attended a TEDx event organized by TEDxUofT, and it was such an inspiring experience. As much as I was drawn to the speakers, one thing that really stayed with me was the performers. I loved seeing art exist within a professional space, and I remember telling myself: one day, I want to be that person on stage. And now, somehow, that moment is here. What excites me most is that this won’t just be a performance. I want it to feel like an experience. Over the past few days, my brain has been overflowing with ideas. Last night I sat surrounded by sticky notes, journals, and books, trying to piece together what I want this to look and feel like. At the heart of it all is one idea: creating your own story. As someone who was born in a small town of India named Aligarh where creative careers are often dismissed and many women do not have educational rights- this platform feels so personal and meaningful. I really hope that the women back home will feel empowered to watch someone like them on these global platforms and they will believe in their own capabilities of owning their scripts. I’m incredibly grateful to @fatumkaba and the entire organizing team for trusting me with this opportunity. I genuinely cannot wait for this event. Also, please check out this year’s lineup of speakers. I’m honestly blown away by the people involved- Nancy Regan, Drew Dudley, Vatsal Sood, Dr.Andrise Bass,PhD,EdD, Ingrid Deon, David Divine, Titi Akinsanmi, Sandra T., Terrence Taylor, Adam Langer, Madusha Ranaweera, Wyndolyn Brown, Roz Kennery, Frank Palermo, Beth Hayward, Ashwin Kutty jointly with paul mackinnon,Joe O’Connor, Michelle Weger - Productivity Expert, Lauren Peveril. It is such an honour to share the stage with you all✨🫶🏻 The link to buy tickets is in the comments- would love to see you all there❤️ #tedx #artist #performer #exciting #tedxargylestreet

While speaking at the TEDx event, one of our speakers, @micadaurie , said that some stories were never told because fear silenced them, while others were lost to persecution, rejection, and systemic failure. From the LGBTQ purge to the AIDS crisis, generations carried the weight of being forced to hide who they were just to survive. In Nova Scotia, the very first Pride parade in 1988 saw people marching with paper bags over their heads — afraid of losing their jobs, their homes, and even the people they loved. According to @micadaurie , today we remember them. We honor their courage. And we continue the fight for a world where no one has to choose between safety and authenticity. One of the most powerful moments from our TEDx event came when Amber reminded us that people often only see the ending — never the struggle behind it. The audience saw the crown. 👑 They didn’t see the fear, the self-doubt, or the woman she was three and a half years earlier, nearly 300 pounds and fighting to believe in herself again. Through resilience, discipline, and courage, Amber not only transformed her life with over 160 pounds lost, but went on to become Mrs. Universe USA. ✨ A story that reminded every person in the room: your past does not define your future. Congratulations Amber Tickets are now up for our upcoming TEDX 2026 (All Links in our bio) Register now: https://shorturl.at/jbo28 Sponsor or partner: [email protected] Learn more: https://Inkd.in/dE2SXPEG Get your ticket here: https://shorturl.at/jbo28 #tedxargylest #ideasworthspreading #halifaxspeakers #tedtalks #tedxcanada

At the beginning of every year, I set two business goals. A revenue goal and a non-financial goal. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ One year it was to win an award. We won four awards that year. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Last year it was to give a keynote. And in September, I gave my first keynote.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ This year, it was to give a TEDx talk.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ A few weeks ago, while I was in line at Subway, I checked my email on my phone and saw a subject line that said, “Congratulations: You Are Invited to Speak at TEDxArgyle St 2026.”⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I looked around the Subway shop with my mouth agape. I wanted to scream, “I’m doing a TEDx talk everyone!” but I figured that might be weird, so I kept it to myself, but I couldn’t get that incredulous look off of my face.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ So, here it is. The official announcement. I’m doing TEDx Argyle St in Halifax on July 18 and YOU CAN COME AND SEE IT! Tickets are available now. Check the link in my bio.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Huge thanks to @fatumkaba for organizing this event and seeing the potential in me for giving a great TEDx talk. I can’t wait to be on that stage!

A powerful and deeply important moment from our TEDx event with @mattdotwhyte “This talk is 14 minutes long. In that time, 21 people worldwide will die by suicide.” It’s an uncomfortable truth — this crisis is everywhere. In living rooms and locker rooms, in work trucks, school hallways, group chats, and often in the people who seem the strongest. Matt’s talk challenged us to rethink what strength really looks like. Sometimes, being “the provider, the fixer, the rock” can mean carrying burdens in silence. Real strength is having the courage to slow down, speak up, and let others in. A conversation that reminded everyone in the room: checking in, listening, and creating space for honesty can save lives. 🖤 #TEDx #MentalHealthAwareness #SuicidePrevention #ItsOkayToTalk #TEDxTalks
