Ecologies of Sisterhood: a double bill ** Ecologies of Sisterhood: a double bill ** is a work consisting of two dance solos and an installation. The piece explores sisterhood, warrior characters, and role models, as well as emotional rollercoasters, drama, and the traces of dance-making. The double bill evenings feature dancer-choreographer Maya Oliva’s aaAaaaAA (feathered mouths) and dance artist Terhi Hart’s solo work Warrior Princess. Alongside the performances, the space will expand into an installation that acts as an extension of the solos and highlights the traces and processes of dance-making. April 8–19, 2026 Gallery Longa, Kalasatama Performances: April 8 at 19:00 April 10 at 19:00 April 11 at 19:00 April 17 at 19:00 April 18 at 19:00 Discussion event: April 16 at 17:00 (ENG/FIN, more info coming soon) *** Tickets link to performances in bio *** Reservations are free of charge. We’re happy to share that the zine publication of Queer Autonomous Zone Along the Pink Line (QAZ), will be presented this Sunday (15.00-16.30) at Titanik Gallery during the XS Festival, as part of the artist talk with Once We Were Islands. Onur Tayranoğlu from QAZ, will present the publication. The zine brings together five queer manifestos, each written for QAZ by a different resident of this conceptual site in their mother tongue: Karelian, Kurdish, Ladino, Romanes, and Syriac. Together, they amplify queer voices that move across borders along the “Pink Line.” Editions with English, Turkish, and Finnish translations will be available on the Circus Maximus website later this year. A small number of print copies will be distributed across Finland, and we’ll share a list of places where you can access them by the beginning of next year. @onurtayranoglu @ehkaproduction @oncewewereislands @titanikgalleria

Each day hides a grain of Sunday vol.2 offered a framework for developing existing work while inviting artists to explore the role space could play in their practice. My deepest gratitude to everyone who’s made it possible!   This artist laboratory came to life amidst severe financial cuts. Thank you, @teattericircus , for trusting me with all the changes and allowing me to wrap this curatorial journey as Candama. Thank you, @sonjislaine , @joaoluisperc , @francesca.bogama and @olga_spyropoulou for being generous with your trust and feedback. It has been wonderful getting to know your processes and seeing you connect, review, play and transform what you carry with you. I see traces of you everywhere in Helsinki! This year, we tried something new: institutional partnerships. I want to thank everyone at @arkkitehtuuri_ja_designmuseo for welcoming us and introducing us to their archives. Special thanks to @i.montalvao from @artistswithevidence for being our discussion partner and sharing with us her enthusiasm and knowledge in art-science. Thank you, @realityrescen , @arkadia_bookshop , @songscapes.fi , Henry Lämsä, and @pyrykan for also being part of this journey and contributing to it. Thank you, @onurtayranoglu , @mechebalarezo , @onlyphan.zip , @cal.doga , @maya.oliva , @matilda_aaltonen and Maija Linturi for your support and work at Circus Maximus. It’s been great having you as colleagues. Our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who attended the public showings this summer and early autumn. Your presence makes the difference. One more year has passed, and I still believe there is nothing sexy about curating. This cycle, however, has taught me an important lesson: better ready than perfect. It’s a wrap! 📸 Here goes to the memories: 2-3 Tracing II: Near the edge but not even close by Sonjis Laine. Still like dust lingers here. These photographs function much like rhythm in poetry, a bridge between one life and all others across time.  Thank you, Olga and Pyry, for your work, and everyone who joined the living poems on September 14th. Welcome to Traces we inhabit, fragments that hold us —a sensory walk along Hernesaari’s waterfront with artist @francesca.bogama ! The walk is an invitation to be open to uncertainty, explore the irrational, and engage with a whimsical wish towards thinking with matter and not over matter. Granite will be our companion as we trace the history of the soil that holds us. We’ll guide our attention to the multiple layers of time and space, and embark on a sonic and speculative journey to connect with the fragments that hold us dynamic, continuous, living, and lived. What possible worlds exist when we attune to the landscape? 🪐 Saturday, September 6th, at 11:00. 🪨 Meeting point: Eiranrannan kalliot. 🌵 Duration: 1h30 (90 min). ⚡️ Language: English. 🎧 Bring your phone and headphones. 🌊 Free entrance, 10 spots available. Registration link in our bio. ⛰️ The walk takes place outdoors along the urban coastline between Eiranranta and Hernesaari, and includes a visit to a landfill. Access to the Eiranranta’s cliffs and the landfill is not accessible. — Traces we inhabit, fragments that hold us is part of “Each day hides a grain of Sunday vol.2”, @teattericircus 2025 artist laboratory curated by Candama (@mariadecandama ). Welcome to SOLO – Porto Helsinki Sound Promenade Project, a concert-installation by @joaoluisperc ! Every sound is a trace. Every city is a score. Two cities overlap. Two geographies breathe into one another. Porto meets Helsinki, on the map, in sound. Layers of place pile up, drift, and blur until they become music. Projected maps of Porto and Helsinki overlap into a shifting visual score, while a live performance with percussion, prepared bass drum, and electronics reconstructs soundscapes gathered in both cities. Out of these textures composed songs emerge, creating an experience that oscillates between a concert, a soundwalk, and an imaginary geography. 🌗 Friday 29.8. at 19:00 🌱 @vapaantaiteentila as part of @songscapes.fi ⚡️Duration: 40 min (approx) 🌊 Language: Instrumental/ sound-based 🔥 Free entrance/ pay what you wish There will be seats indoors. Accessibility information is available in the comments. SOLO belongs to @joaoluisperc ’s ongoing Sound Promenade Project which explores the musicalization of soundscapes, the poetics of urban listening, and the transformation of place into performance. — The concert-installation is part of “Each day hides a grain of Sunday vol.2”, @teattericircus 2025 artist laboratory curated by @mariadecandama .
