We are so thrilled that this beautiful collection of recordings from the one and only @nicomo_nicosbo is finally out in the world for you to hear. Unmiserable was mixed by @pomppompeypomp and features contributions from @lealeathomas & @thanyaiyer & Alec Spiegelman (Cuddle Magic) as well as Nico and his band members @gerardmarcus & Duncan Standish. The record is about being sad but not being mad about it, closure and avoidance, intergenerational drama, and living in the moment when time permits. Nico says: “Making music is a process of trying to put a shape to life, make sense of it and get organized. This record got me absolutely nowhere but it feels good to wail with your friends.”

Happiest release day to @dan_langa aka Fugue State! Dan says “This third single fully displays the power of @penicandrarini Peni and I were introduced through William Brittelle and we scheduled a day together at Figure 8 Studio. The opening moments in this single were some of the first notes recorded during the day. There was a powerful cathartic energy that came through in the performance. This day with Peni influenced the way the tracks were ordered on the project. Tracks with Peni offer potent moments of respite through this often dense and maximalist soundworld.”

Announcing the debut album from Fugue State, After Nothing Comes, out May 22 via @switchhitrecords The second single “Dark” is out everywhere today, along with a visualizer made by @stuffianrenders Neither solo project nor traditional ensemble, Fugue State was born out of a compositional methodology: an obsessive cultivation of studio recordings with a rotating cast of musicians, transformed into spectral, unrecognizable “Dark” seeks to bring out a hypnotic state explored in the song’s lyrics sung by @maiafffff and @mr.e.s.woods . There is an obsessive repetition of synth stabs, processed saxophones, and of lyrics. The same words are repeated over and over again, and as you hear them more, their tone shifts from seductive to aggressive and everything in-between. Tickets to the Album Release show are now on Sale! From the artist: “The inspiration for the structure of the song comes directly from the @aidanalexiskoch zine ‘Dark’ in the book After Nothing Comes. There is a mesmerizing page with ‘hypnotized written on it, which takes up the full page and feels all-consuming. I read it like the finger snap that puts you in a trance. We feel this in the track and @maiafffff and @mr.e.s.woods did an amazing job of creating an unsettling and woozy melody to match.”
