"Stick Figures" (official music video) by gushes, 2025 Gagged and screaming from the umbilical tongue, “Stick Figures” is a nonbinary allegory— a final dance with a version of self who must die in order to live closer to liberation. Bound and extended by the fabrics of psychic gristle, the video moves through the ritual schism of birth, a glamorous yet indignant intervention between Mother Trickster and Baby Beast, and then floral devastation-release at the peak of a waterfall. With music, direction, cinematography, & editing by Filipinx interdisciplinary artist, Jennae Santos (aka gushes), the song’s prickling, sludging sound scores the salt of seduction on the lunge of flight. The video was filmed on location at @mosquitopointroadhouse and @starroutefarm —sites that foster radical healing and growth for queer communities in the Catskills. An exercise in Kapwa– a concept in Indigenous Filipino psychology that refers to seeing oneself in the other, the music video illuminates the somatic interdependence, erotic wisdom, and diasporic resilience of queer Asian Americana in relationship to land. Bodies are one, vibrating to the storied textures of land and bursting flowers in unbound expressions of liberation. last year, 2 fronds @setoburrito @cialikethey who i now call fam came into my life in the wake of shared grief. we self-directed a vulnerable process while cohabitating for a week. this work is the result of our initial intersection, held with great trust & intimacy🤎

STONE EATER BTS 🪨😝🥁🎥 a GUSH could not have conceived of or realized this video without Nae’s (@gushes___ ) incredible vision and dedication !!!! they went so freaking hard on it and i’m so freaking proud !!!! Nae’s ability to coax and capture an ecstatic feral expression has been extremely inspiring to me and I was stoked to ask them to do this video when I realized this track went hard enough to go there 😝 we shot the drumming bits in September at @otionfrontstudio in basically one grueling 12 hour day for a 2-person shoot (hilarious for a 2 minute video). this is where the matrix idea started and we just captured a ton of material to sculpt from in the edit. in December we traveled to Ireland for @ambleofficial . online research led us to Giants Causeway in Northern Ireland, and @liam_watts_music suggested the Burren and Mullaghmore, in the west. We literally did this in two insane back to back days, 🚊training to Northern Ireland, and shooting during a 20 minute bus tour stop at Giants Causeway LOL. back to Dublin that night, and the next day took a bus to Galway, rented a car and drove to Mullaghmore to find a freakin rainbow 🌈 NO ONE around. very very special. Nae was extremely ill all the while, and miraculously powered through to get all these gorgeous 360cam shots in the Irish stonescape. last month we dug into the edit and Nae went off with an extremely detailed edit and then proceeded to color the whole thing to get it in full matrix mode. from @gushes___ vast natural expanses inspire me, along with the most thrashy matt track ive ever heard— a mode of bombast i super relate to. while looping short segments in the edit, i started to hear worming voices cackling from matt’s drumming. it was a maddening treat to work on this frenetic, subliminally-tongued beast. the body, the brain, the heart is always a’drum. GO WATCH IT AGAIN ITS ONLY 2 MINUTES !!!!! so freaking proud of this one and grateful for my love @gushes___ making it a reality 🥹

good morning earthworms !! 2 new tracks (and vids) from 𝔻𝕒𝕪𝕕𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕞 𝕆𝕓𝕤𝕖𝕣𝕧𝕒𝕥𝕠𝕣𝕪 to melt your brain: “𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙀𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧” & “𝑺𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒖𝒏” like the everyday balancing of tragedy and comedy, these two tracks represent the light and dark poles of the album. Stone Eater, a dark chaotic blast that cuts through an anxious malaise with visceral hunks of free drumming. Sword of the Sun, a sundrenched beachside bop featuring the glimmering trumpet playing of Chris Ryan Williams (@chris_ryanwilliams ).  Stone Eater’s music video (directed, shot, edited, and colored by @gushes___ ) is a densely strobed, tongue out excavation of internalized anxieties. we shot it in the surreal stonescapes of Ireland, and Nae stitched together this incredible hyper-cut Matrix-coded micro-narrative with craggy fish-eye landscapes, in-studio drum performances, and spit-laced subliminal imagery !!! chaotic trickster boy-band stoked-ness !!! i cannot contain my excitement for this vid lol !!!
