Excited to be taking part in this year’s @londonfestivalofarchitecture with an exhibition exploring belonging through personal and architectural narratives.
Join us for the launch event on Friday 12th June from 6pm for a first look (and a drink or two to celebrate five years of @studiowadhal ). I’ll be giving a short talk to introduce the stories behind the exhibition at 7pm.
To RSVP, follow the link in our bio.
Colliding Contexts is presented by @noiascape at High Street House in Shepherd’s Bush. If you can’t make it to the launch, the exhibition will be open to visitors until the 19th.

Teaser | A first glimpse of Wade House.
We find repetition to be an interesting way to explore ideas both old and new. The semicircle motif nods to local design heritage, while reinterpreting it in new contexts.
Inspired by the traditional bay window, the semicircle echoes across the project - seen in the kitchen island, staircase handrail, stained glass door, overhang, front gate latch, and back patio.
We’re really excited to share more about this project in the coming weeks.

Belonging.
Sometimes embracing a disconnection between two places, and two halves of our identity, can create a new sense of belonging.

We’ve always been fascinated with stained glass, and finding ways to reinterpret this methodology for contemporary architecture. When the right opportunity came along, we were really excited to start chatting with Jack from @pavilionpavilion_ .
We were blown away by his knowledge of the material - its history, traditional and contemporary techniques, colour and texture.
Jack has just designed and fabricated stained glass for an upcoming @studiowadhal project.
We can’t wait to see it in its new home - a new build house in London that celebrates the interplay of patterns, textures and materials.
Watch this space for more in the coming weeks...

A family home for a changing climate, The Convex House - going on site later this year - encourages a reconnection with the environment.
A natural green roof helps the house to become one with nature over time. Flint, a locally-sourced material historically mined on site, is chosen to clad the exterior, allowing the house to further merge with the landscape, and blend in with its natural surroundings.
Inside, sustainability is prioritised by ensuring passive solar design and thermal efficiency.

We’ve been testing the double-height volume, structure and materiality for the Convex House, a contemporary new build home going on site later this year.
The surrounding woodland will be framed by carefully placed windows, allowing dappled light to filter through the trees into the open-plan living space and upstairs bedrooms.
The space opens up to an exposed glulam structure, with deep-set fanning beams following the crescent form of the building.

Going on site in 2026, the Convex House is designed to tread lightly on the landscape - with a crescent form seamlessly weaving around root protection zones. On the facade, a subtle transition from brick to flint embeds the house into its environment.
We’ve been progressing the technical design, and are excited to see this project become a reality. Swipe to get into the festive spirit with a rather seasonal visual.
We’ll be closed from the 23rd, returning January 5th. Until then, wishing our clients and friends a restful winter break.

A little known fact about Wadhal is that the practice started life as a journal - a place to record thoughts and observations about architecture, as well as everything else.
Our early articles still have a home on our website, and we continue to use our journal to explore ideas, related to work or otherwise (more often than not, otherwise...)
Moving into the age of AI and mass-generated text has changed our relationship with the written word. That doesn’t mean it’s lost its value - or so we hope. Instead, we see it as an opportunity to remind ourselves of what makes human creativity unique.
