What is Milan Design Week nowadays? Still about spotting young talents in the wild or the spectacles from fasihon mega-brands? Honestly, what makes mine is the human stuff. The unmarketable stuff. Running into friends, designers, curators, new people — over spritz, wine, dinner. Walking exhibitions together and suddenly seeing what someone else sees. Listening to sharings and feeling your brain shift in real time. Seeing people smile. Hearing people laugh. These are the hours I treasure most. The ones that don‘t make the press releases but make the whole trip worth it. So incredibly grateful for every single encounter. You all made this week what it was. 🍷✨ See you next year? 👇 📍 Milan Design Week 2026 lopakmilano @dd_ng @jameskaorubury @iammi.iami @amypang_word @polarboki @weplus.jp @suzyannetta @aimarchitecture @mingdesignstudio_official @missyoko @mariotsai_studio @sae_honda_ @haus_of_hu @nicdossantos @blanc_hard @hokutoando @toshiya__hayashi

@dd_ng just had a massive year — exhibiting at When Apricots Blossom @uzbekistanmdw (one of the most praised shows in the city, longest queue, and for good reason) AND landing a spot at Rosanna Orlandi Gallery in Milan. @rossana_orlandi That’s two continents, two radically different contexts, and one clear signal: Didi’s voice as a designer is traveling far and resonating hard. Couldn’t be happier to see a Hong Kong designer & artist truly making an impact at the MDW. 🙌 And thanks for the vip pass to skip the super long queue! 📍 Blossom, Uzbekistan / Rosanna Orlandi Gallery, Milan #DidiNg #RosannaOrlandi #BlossomUzbekistan #StudioRYTE 👩🏻 📝 @amypang_word from @mpw.culture

8th Milan Design Week in the books — and this one was special. Had the rare chance to walk the city with @amypang_word (@mpw.culture , Executive Editor) and photographer @polarboki . A full day of design-hunting, talking, and getting happily lost together. Started the day at Piscina Romano for @6am_glass 6:AM’s “OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER” — and honestly? Jaw on the floor. We just kept stopping mid-sentence because the light kept doing something impossible. Towering walls of glass blocks catching sun, prismatic installations bleeding colour across dark rooms, delicate glass studies that shift with every single step. So rewarding. Then we bolted to SaloneSatellite — ground zero for the wild, the untested, and the “wait, HOW did they even make that?!” Hands down to @mingdesignstudio_official ’s new Starpic that mimics the stars in the sky. Fresh energy, zero fear, exactly the kind of beautiful chaos that keeps Milan Design Week honest. Then a long chat with @steveleungdesigngroup — candlesticks, marble, craft, and why early mornings in Milan hit different when the light is this good and the company is even better. He walked us through his brand new Milan office and showroom, unveiled a sleek cigar tray he’s been refining, and showed off his latest outdoor furniture line that somehow feels both brutal and inviting. Getting the tour from the man himself — watching him talk through material choices and spatial logic in real time — that’s the real design education. From prismatic pools to satellite experiments to Steve’s new HQ. Brain stretched in all the right directions. Still buzzing. 🇮🇹✨ Shall we do that again next year? 🫣🥰 📍 Piscina Romano → SaloneSatellite → Steve Leung Showroom, Milan #MilanDesignWeek2026 #6AM #PiscinaRomano #SaloneSatellite #MDW2026

Alcova has always been a priority visit every year. This year the energy felt slightly lighter, but I still managed to find some interesting works tucked into the old Baggio Military Hospital. The visit to Villa Pestarini was very pleasant — beautiful spaces, good light, and moments of real craft. Highlights: kinetic metal flowers that felt alive, stacked Memphis-style spheres glowing in the dark, and a quiet room of triangular wall lamps where someone had the right idea (nap time). 🇮🇹 @alcova.milano @chenfurong @studiososlow @sugarwave_studio @keith.henning @michalkorchowiec @frederikfialin @riveroshan @spread_tokyo #MilanDesignWeek2026 #MDW2026 #Alcova #StudioRYTE

Two sticks. One gesture. Infinite meaning. Sixteen studios, countless conversations, and one deceptively simple brief: rethink the chopstick. Korean - metal Japanese - wood Chinese - plastic/ wood/ bamboo From exhibition design to exhibits, from talks to interviews, watched designers like @aldocibic @biggamedesign @duyi.han @haus_of_hu @jinkuramoto @mariotsai_studio @sae_honda_ @weplus.jp approach these two pieces of wood (or metal, or ceramic, or pure concept) with completely different philosophies. Ritual. Politics. Identity. Form. Curated by @missyoko ,this show reminds you that the objects we use without thinking are often the ones holding the most cultural weight. Featuring also great crafters including @dou6geoi6so2 Exhibition design by @aimarchitecture at @s3.site Are chopsticks just utensils, or are they a daily meditation on balance, restraint, and memory? Drop your thoughts. 👇 📍 S—3, Via Pietro Giannone 3, Milan

Who escapes Milan during Milan Design Week? We do. And here's why. Took a train out to Piacenza for Davide Groppi's Ora — held inside a church, because of course it is. Spectacular setting, light doing that thing only Groppi knows how to command. Sacred space + precise illumination = goosebumps. The kind of exhibition that makes you grateful you left the fair crowds behind for a day. This is @davidegroppi 's hometown where he made his first light in his workshop, with skills learnt from his father back then. Then did the only responsible thing: hunted down local Piacenza food — tortelli con la coda piacentini ricotta e spinaci (Piacenza-style tortelli with ricotta and spinach) and "piccola" di cavallo alla piacentina, con peperoni e polenta di mais (Piacenza-style horse steak with peppers and corn polenta). Amazing. And discovered a new regional wine Gutturnio with Barbera and Croatian. I now need to find this in hk. @osteriasantafranca 🍷⛪ If you know what's the name of the dolce dessert let me know! Sometimes the best MDW moments happen an hour outside Milan. 📍 Piacenza #DavideGroppi #Ora #piacenza #StudioRYTE #mdw2026

Four hours that felt like four minutes. Lunch with Alberto and Laura on Lake Orta — drinking Pinot Noir and Charddonay poured from their own vines and talking design philosophy until the afternoon light shifted over the water. No pitch decks. No agendas. Just the kind of generous, meandering conversation that reminds you why we chase beauty in objects. When time “cheats” you like this, you know you’re exactly where you should be. Followed with late harvest and grappa.. Grazie for the hospitality, the wisdom, and the wine. 🍷🐴 Propelling curiosity to design around the world. 📍 Lake Orta #LakeOrta #Alessi #Edgedesignhk #StudioRYTE #italianhospitality

Stepped into the Alessi Archive and felt the weight of design history in the best way possible. Rows of prototypes that never made it to production, sketches that became legends, and pieces so confidential we had to leave our phones at the door. No photos — but honestly? Some things are better burned into memory than stored in a camera roll. Seeing the "almosts" and the "what-ifs" up close is a masterclass in itself. The courage to prototype, the discipline to kill a bad idea, and the patience to wait decades for the right one. That's the real design education. 📍 Alessi Archive, Omegna #AlessiArchive #Edgedesignhk #StudioRYTE #DesignHistory #Prototypes

2026 Apr 17. On a beautiful Friday Just walked through the hallowed halls where Aldo, Alberto, and generations of master artisans transformed steel and dreams into the poetry of daily life. From sketch to mold to that unmistakable Alessi gleam — seeing the alchemy happen where lake meets mountain in Omegna hits different when you're a designer. Every crimp, every weld, every "almost but not quite" prototype tells the story of why we do this. Pilgrimage: complete. Brain: full of ideas. Heart: full. 📍 Alessi factory, Omegna #Omegna #Edgedesignhk #StudioRYTE #designpilgrimage
