Dekmantel – The Nest – August 2025 Temporary architecture, light scenography & live direction. The Nest’s facade is exposed to sunlight throughout the day, with the setting sun naturally framing the performing artist. The spatial design responds to these changing conditions, creating a scenography that shifts between day and night. Transparent panels are rearranged and filtered to choreograph the light, placing the sun at the centre of the composition. Each panel is tinted along the Kelvin scale, evoking distinct daylight atmospheres that transform as the day unfolds. The design creates a juxtaposition between digital and analogue techniques. Across the outer façades, a digital installation maps and redirects beams of light, producing church-like rays that fall across the dance floor, creating the illusion of sunlight without visible fixtures. DURATION Through the lens of @dammeskieft duration /djʊˈreɪʃ(ə)n/ noun the time during which something continues.  “The pure present is an ungraspable advance of the past devouring the future. In truth, all sensation is already memory.” — Haruki Murakami DURATION marks the 10 year anniversary of a long lasting collaboration with @studio.raito / an Amsterdam based studio creating scenographies for events, museums and art pieces. The production design is inspired by our collaborative PASSAGE series and finds its place in an iconic scaffolding structure designed by @studio.raito in collaboration with our studio. The scaffolding acts as a construct, the lights and speakers mounted in this construct house the different spatial time instances able to be triggered by the feedbackloop system. “I love how the towers lose their rigid shape through the audiovisual animations. The installation brings together an intricate echo system with a traversable spatial experience: an echo chamber enabling composers and visitors to further explore the relationship between sound, time, and space; deconstructing single audio inputs into complex patterns, raging machinery, and calming seemingly natural phenomena. A parametric clockwork that is only partly controllable. A conversation between the clocktime and the subjective time. #installationart #mediaart

Lentekabinet Festival - Scenography - June 2025 Scenography & Live direction for the Lotus area. For this years evolution of the Lotus area we went back to the early days of discotheques. It features circular truss systems brimming with vintage PAR lights creating a radiant and playful atmosphere that echoes the allure of 90’s dance floors. you might recognise this multi-level structure from watching bone-rattling sets at @dkmntl , where radar first took shape a few years ago. introduced as part of the dutch festival’s evolving programme, it has since become closely tied to its musical identity, hosting artists whose sound matches the intensity and scale of the space. defined by its stacked architecture and raw, immersive presence, the structure reshapes how the crowd moves and experiences each set. it’s less a stage in the traditional sense and more an environment built around the crowd. the stage is the work of @studio.raito , a design studio operating across art direction, scenography, spatial design and a/v installations. radar was featured as part of our exhibition, ‘the design of collective experience,’ presented at @dropcity_org during milan design week. photography by @tutulmazayatacan , @deanfentross , @alexheuvink , @timbuiting and @nikolaevalina .

Pitch Music & Arts – Resident Advisor – March 2026 Temporary architecture, light scenography & live direction. The area is positioned within a natural canopy, using the existing tree as spatial anchor. It defines orientation, provides shade and gathering, placing nature at the heart of the space. A series of towers introduce a contrasting architectural language. Referencing familiar elements from contemporary public space, angled LED surfaces emit light outward, shifting their role from content carriers to lighting source. The structure reads as intentional and out of place, reinforcing the contrast between natural context and constructed form. A sneak peak of our 2026 Resident Advisor stage → Less than 200 Passes remain Moving to a new location this year, designers @studio.raito have deliberately shaped the space around the natural conditions of the Grampian Plains. Featuring one of the site’s magnificent trees as its spatial and symbolic centre, its canopy offering natural shade during the day. Complimented by a Funktion-One sound system, the space is defined by a series of towers referencing familiar elements from contemporary public space. At night, the towers radiate light across their outer surfaces, with visual and lighting design developed in collaboration with visual artists @hugoyunus (Studio Raito) and @brendan.hardwood ) in a hybrid setup. This year’s design is one that needs to be lived and it’s dancefloor experienced to be understood. Only then will you fully comprehend why we’re coining it the most immersive Resident Advisor stage to date.

Selectors – Beach – August 2025 Temporary architecture, light scenography & live direction. The roof structure follows the curve of the hill, mirroring the way dancers are positioned on the foundation. One side of the roof bends upward while the other remains horizontal, aligning with the horizon to reinforce the structure’s dialogue with its surroundings. The dance floor extends onto the pontoon, echoing the spatial qualities of the beach stage. Light poles marking the edges of the floating floor recall those standing on the shore. Underwater lights create an irresistible sense of invitation, tempting visitors to swim across and join the party. The stage embodies the stillness of a film scene, capturing a precise moment in time through its unchanging presence. Working with traditional gas-filled tubes, the lighting spontaneously illuminates the dance floor, embracing the limitation of a fixed colour palette. Selectors – Voodoo – August 2025 Temporary architecture, light scenography & live direction. The connected walls form an L-shaped structure, enclosing the area along the pathway in front. Entry occurs from the back of the dance floor, encouraging a gradual sense of discovery and allowing visitors to find their position within the crowd at their own pace. Lighting is suspended at a downward angle, illuminating the audience and cultivating an intimate atmosphere where light enhances presence. The roofline remains consistent throughout the structure, dissolving any notion of front or back and allowing orientation to be guided solely by the sound system. A tall tower-like volume carries a large follow spot, digitally controlled by a human tracing a mouse cursor. The scaffolding framework is wrapped in debris netting, arranged in a pleated composition that softens its appearance and allows the structure to merge gently with its surroundings. Modern in method, yet nostalgic in spirit, the scenography recalls the warmth of an old-school club through its filtered windows. Facade panels are left uncleaned, carrying the traces of their former location, a quiet nod to the places they've been in the past. The indirect light sources illuminate the building’s structure from both inside and out, highlighting the dancers, the sound system, the roof trusses, and the façade.
