Bits & pieces from spring! 💐
Cover stories tend to get the most shine whenever an issue drops, and rightfully so. But it’s usually the smaller stories that end up being the most fun. With SHARP Spring on the shelves, here are a few of my favourite pieces from the issue:
1-4: For our culture feature, I interviewed Sonny Vacarro — the godfather of sports marketing and the man who signed MJ to Nike — for his new memoir. This man is so genuinely sweet, wise beyond measure, and probably still has the ear of your favourite athlete. His life is like something out of a Jack Kerouac novel (with more gambling) and one I’m so happy to we got highlight. Also, shoutout to our AD
@cameron.morse for literally breaking the spine of the book and going full arts-and-crafts mode to cut out hi-res archive pictures that are otherwise almost impossible to track down.
5-7: Our watch editor interviewed Sotheby’s Global Head of Watches on the art of high-stakes auctions. Such a cool interview from someone who works with some of the rarest watches on earth and beautiful photos from
@brentgoldsmith taken in his Manhattan office. Very Wall Street.
8-9: Our resident food writer,
@puredanforth , got his boots on the ground in Athens to report on how the wine scene is changing drastically alongside the ancient city. What does that mean for a culture so rooted in winemaking? Working with Peter is such a fun ride in and of itself: you never know whether he’s across the world or a few blocks away working at Dreyfus. You also don’t know precisely when you’ll get the story, but when you do, it’s going to be written with the colour that only someone actually in the industry can deliver.
10-11: Style writer
@benzirk does it again, this time interviewing menswear wunderkind
@nolandanielwhite to offer guys the blueprint to dressing up in 2025, shot in Montreal by
@lawrencefafard . Also, such a perfect job by
@bananahales and
@saharxnooraei to make the styling direction come to life alongside Nolan.
12: Ed’s letter!
There are so many fun little bits in this issue and a million people who help put it together. But these are just a few of snippets. Check it out on newsstands now! 🪴
