For the final SHARP magazine issue of 2024, we sat down with two leaders on opposite sides of the food and drink landscape. First, we visited David Schwartz (@dschwa92 ) at his new restaurant Linny’s. Marking restaurant no.3 for Schwartz and company, Linny’s layers a personal story and time honoured dining experience into one product. While the space is new, what we came to understand is that the inherent charm of a steakhouse (in this case, a Deli Steakhouse) has far less to do with patina, history, or even steak for that matter. Instead, it is more about the how the guest relates and interacts with those elements, and how a shared idea of the past might be conveyed through a nice dinner - @linnysrestaurant Next, we sat down with Trey Zoeller, (@treyzo ) founder of Jefferson’s Bourbon. On his worldwide tour promoting the latest Jefferson’s releases, Zoeller was kind enough to give us a history lesson on an otherwise misunderstood part of American drink culture, and share his familie’s story along the way. While Bourbon has long belonged to Kentucky, Zoeller looks to breathe new life into the style, redefining the idea of terroir along the way - @jeffersonsbourbon We look forward to our next chat with both of them, and in the meantime, we’ll enjoy what they do. Look out for our next piece in this years SHARP Spring issue - @sharpmagazine

For the November issue of Sharp Magazine, we were lucky enough to sit down with Leo Baldassarre, Michael Mercanti, and Conor Joerin, founders of Sagra di Toronto. @famiglia_baldassarre @michaelmercanti @sugotoronto Sagra di Toronto is a fundraiser supporting youth programs in the city, where industry professionals and members of the community come together to serve traditional Italian food. This year, with the help of many notable local businesses including Bondi Produce and The Butcher Shoppe, the team are preparing a variety of classic italian pastas and dishes including squash Tortelli, macaroni with duck ragu, and pot roast with polenta, to name a few. It was great to sit down with the team, and we are truly honoured to be even a small part of this very important cause. @Sagra_di_Toronto takes place this Sunday, October 27th at Loretto College between 12-8pm. All proceeds go to Albion Boys and Girls Club. For the full interview, pick up a copy of @sharpmagazine available on newsstands everywhere.

The September issue of Sharp Magazine featured the second installment of Dish It Out - @sharpmagazine This fall, diners and industry professionals alike have similar questions concerning the food and hospitality landscape in Canada. With the help of three new restaurants, we were able to answer some of those questions. First, we peeked inside @sammarcosteak , the newest project from @davidminicucci & @chefrobrossi , who are the right people to answer the call regarding the time-honored steakhouse. Next, we caught up with @adrijjjan and @mikey_kim_ , the two young guns behind @boniiitos - to better understand where the Dundas West food and nightlife scene is headed. Lastly, we chatted with @chefdannysmiles about his new restaurant @leviolonmontreal , and after speaking with him, decided for ourselves why Montreal has become synonymous with hospitality. Thank you to everyone involved, and stay tuned for the next installment in Sharp’s November issue. Now available on newsstands everywhere.

For the Summer issue of @sharpmagazine , we highlighted some of our favourite new spots and popups in Toronto. First, we answered the question that many overwhelmed diners have - When there’s so many options, where do you go? In our opinion, the answer to that question is @takja_bbq @rrramonas and @soundsgoodtoronto We also had the pleasure of talking about the pop-up culture that is dominating the Toronto food scene. For this, we didn’t need to look any further than our good friends @jamils.to @seeyousoon.to and @gallzprovisions for 3 examples of businesses that are subverting the old pop-up model. Thanks to everyone involved, and stay tuned for our next one in SHARP come September! Now available on newsstands everywhere.
