Envisioning a world where we reject binary thinking of gender, sexuality, right vs wrong, good vs evil, black vs white... ⚪️⚫️ . . “it is important that we recognize the harm that we endure and inflict by ignoring the knowledge that our emotions, our bodies, and our intuitions produce. This harm can be seen in classrooms where students are not taught to think deeply or understand profoundly, in hospital rooms where patients are treated with logic rather than care, and in potentially dangerous situations when rational thinking cannot lead us to make the right choices. The assertion that there is one correct, superior way to know that is universally more useful irrespective of context, creates fractures in our society and divides and categorizes us. Rather than see these differences as complimentary and in harmony, we see them as oppositional and in conflict. This idea is performative in that the action of putting one ideal in opposition to another creates the conflict, and not the other way around. How then, do we heal these rifts and breaks? How can we make ourselves and our communities more whole and more healthy? Perhaps Gloria Anzaldua says it best: “The future depends on the breaking down of paradigms, it depends on the straddling of two or more cultures. By creating a new mythos—that is, a change in the way we perceive reality, the way we see ourselves, and the ways we behave—la mestiza creates a new consciousness” So healing will require an examination not just of what we know, but of how and why we know and think... if we can move in this direction on both personal and collective levels, we might contribute to making our society and ourselves more whole, more equal, more compassionate, and more human.” - thought provoking excerpt from ‘A Discussion of Binaries of Knowledge and Thought’ by Rebecca Shamash. ps. So grateful to have a community that sparks curiosity and critical analysis within me. Would love to hear folks thoughts on binary thinking, please share your perspective with me! 🤗 📸: @coreyhayesphotos #binarythinking #blackandwhite #blackandwhitephotography #dualism #criticalandcreativethinking #dismantlethesystem

Hedda Gabler! I’ve been itching to perform in this beautiful theatre at @theoldglobe ever since I first set foot in San Diego, and the manifesting gods delivered. I had the immense privilege of going on as Thea for 3 shows (!!) before they closed, and it was honestly better than I ever could have imagined. Feeling so grateful to my community who came out to support short notice, to get to experience this fiery visceral adaptation by @erincressida with an all star lineup, and to the brilliant dreamy cast of Hedda (@katieholmes @_charliebarnett @alex_hurt_ @ms.saidah @alfredo.narciso @katie.macnichol ) for championing me and making me feel so welcome. It was a dream to act with you and it’s an experience I’ll never forget! 🥹💓

TITUS ANDRONICUS by William Shakespeare We really did that! 🗡️🥀 Feels like a fever pitched dream. So fkn proud and so lucky I got to experience this bloody ruthless monster of a show with these people. Memories I will forever cherish. especially that goddamn revenge mask scene that went from literal nightmare in rehearsal to my favorite scene of the play. It was a rare privilege to embody a woman with so much agency, tactical thinking, and hunger for justice. who actually moved the story forward with her strategy. who was unapologetic, unflinching, and refused to ever shrink to exact her will. It was a first for me and the journey had a lasting profound impact. Thank you to @theoldglobe and @globeusdmfa for trusting me! And so grateful to everyone who came far and wide to see the show. “𝕾𝖍𝖆𝖑𝖑 𝖋𝖔𝖗 𝖒𝖞 𝖑𝖊𝖌𝖆𝖈𝖞, 𝖇𝖊 𝖘𝖆𝖓𝖈𝖙𝖎𝖋𝖎𝖊𝖉 𝕭𝖞 𝖙𝖍’ 𝖑𝖚𝖈𝖐𝖎𝖊𝖘𝖙 𝖘𝖙𝖆𝖗𝖘 𝖎𝖓 𝖍𝖊𝖆𝖛𝖊𝖓…” ✨💫 Quite the unexpected, “pinch me” kind of night that I’ll never forget! A week ago, on June 27th, 2025 I had the miraculous honor and opportunity to cover the lead role of Helena for my first outdoor show at The Old Globe. Also marked my second production of Shakespeare ever! It was quite a whirlwind (esp landing on a Friday night), but as nerve wracking as the short notice hit me, I felt calm. Prepared. Ready. More than a year before, I was in NYC feeling lost and uncertain towards my artistic path. I had a craving that I needed something more. A program specializing in classical theatre training like the @globeusdmfa felt intimidating, but somehow just the program for me. I followed my intuition, and selected one of my classical monologues from Alls Well for my audition. A Helena speech. Something about working on the monologue, at that time, felt different. Like damn, I really connect with her journey in this story, even though it has been cast by many as a problem play. She’s a quirky, flawed young woman with a lot of love to give and a strong gut ambition to make that love come to fruition. Even when she may also fuck up along the way. I fell in love with the imperfect Helena. And I remember speaking a thought(&dream) into existence: “Universe, give me a chance to play Helena full out in this lifetime.” Helena’s words secured my fate to get me into this program. Which then secured my fate to understudy this character a year later and get a chance to live her story out in real time on stage. Surrounded by seasoned, talented actors & classmates/friends I’ll have for a lifetime. Talk about full circle and divine timing! So I’m just basking rn in the wonder that is manifesting dreams into existence, no matter when they materialize. The wonder of trusting my intuition and moving to San Diego. of believing in myself again. of THIS COMMUNITY out here that I’ve been so blessed to call my own. y’all really showed the fuck up and uplifted yer girl on a magical evening. Thank you. 🥹💕

Fostering abundance and gratitude today ☀️ My first birthday away from family, loved ones, and my artistic community on the east coast. I was admittedly feeling pretty homesick over the past few days. But the sunshine out here really does wonders to the soul. Just wanted to share how sincerely touched I am by the love and kindness from near and far. I love yall fr fr ❤️‍🔥 (Fun fact: @hyst_erica took this photo over 3 years ago at black’s beach before I even had San Diego or grad school on my sight. Life is a fickle thing!)

Late to post but couldn’t resist! ✨ Missing my man today and reminiscing on the past few months together on the west coast. Universe really had our back when James got cast & got to work on Primary Trust at La Jolla Playhouse during my first semester out here. Navigating quality time amidst both schedules was a challenge at first, but we found our stride and both fell in love with this city. Missing our beach walks on fiesta island with Luna, ramen dates at @harumamasd , work dates at @paradissandiego , and getting lost in the neighborhoods of San Diego to find our way back home. Couldn’t have asked for a more supportive partner and top tier dog daddy. Counting down the days til we reunite for Christmas. 🥹❤️‍🔥♾️ #mpiy
