I've photographed Judah a lot! What I love about working with the same artists again and again is it pushes on that little part of my brain that thinks "you gotta show em something different this time."
Like yeah I replay the hits a bit, people come back because they look different and such, but I feel such a strong urge to do something new for repeat clients that it pushes the boundaries of how I work so I can find fun new things.

A very happy birthday Jacque! No. I'm not gonna start doing birthday shout outs for everyone I work with (I'd wind up posting them every day).
But I *am* today for a few reasons.
@jaydubbers is an awesome human.
She's also one of the funniest humans I know.
These are older photos but I'm very proud of both of them. They're still in my portfolio and will likely never leave it.
Nowadays it doesn't take me as long to get the shot I want. I'm better at the thing now in a lot of ways but pre visualization is probably one of the most obvious (for me anyway).
When I have a concept for a creative portrait I do meticulous work to lay everything out so the human just has to move into frame and be a person capable of taking direction.
When a person walks in for a headshot and we start jawboning it doesn't take too long for me to figure out how I want to angle them and how I'll direct them to get the expression I want most.
That wasn't always true. It used to take much longer. There was a bit more fumbling involved while they were in front of the camera.
I'm a patient guy and could work through that frustration buuuuut not *every* person you get in front of the camera has the attention stamina to keep playing until you nail it.
Jacque did! Still does too.

Best thing about the session with Giuliana, other than her amazing attitude and ability to take direction, is that her family was fully there in tow.

I get a fair amount of folks coming in that want to get involved or are already involved in local politics. Sometimes we'll get into their platform. I know a lot of folks say to leave this stuff at the door but I'm always gonna keep it real.
I haven't had anyone come in whose views I find abhorrent, I like to think any and all language I use here and on the site brings people that are meant to find me in and keep those that wouldn't want to work with me anyway away.
Also interesting note, sometimes people come in for portraits to run for office, but never get to the running for office part.
Throughout February and March I had the deep honor of doing headshots for the staff of @baysidecc .
I love that this is front and center on their website

Community work is the deepest most vital work to be done in any given place and I have heaps of respect for the humans that do this work.

Took just a little bit of direction to get this look from Laura and the way she lit up when she saw it tells me she's had a few of those days herself.
I think we all have.
Some days I don't have it y'all, but I always push through for the folks on the other side of the camera.
