promoting Brisbane City councils REVIVE festival oct 25 on Studio 10 yesterday

This week last year I hosted the annual REVIVE #secondhandfashion festival by @brisbanecitycouncil @visitsouthbank - dedicated to promoting #textilewaste reduction. #Brisbane leads the world 🌍 in this initiative championed by the dynamic @crvickihoward where 15,000 people shopped the preloved market, #upcyclingworkshops, listened to luminaries in the sustainable world including Kelly @peppermintmagazine heads of charities, amazing sustainable businesses including @eastofgrey @brownsgeneralstore @alicenightingale among others, the issues facing African designers due to the influx of our discarded low quality clothes into developing countries as well as be inspired by the amazing fashion shows showcasing what incredible looks could be created by @nevereverpayretail @fayedelanty and highlighting the incredible work done by @suited_to_success in supporting men and women getting back into the workforce. With 6000kg heading to landfill very 10 minutes in Australia and 85% of the 27kg bought every year by women here also going to landfill - I hope the pause this pandemic has created has made more people stop and think about their #fashionfootprint and be encouraged to get curious about alternatives and step into the #sustainablestyle world help to #makefashioncircular when this event is back up and running - I am very passionate about helping people #curatedontconsume and #stylemoreshopless - fast fashion is not the problem - accelerated consumption is and you CAN be a agent of change in this regard. 1 Easy Tip to Stop Consuming 400% more than we did 10 years ago !! 1. If you have “Nothing to Wear” ringing in your ears when you open your wardrobe - you need to do a wardrobe review and actually see what is there before you consider bringing in anything else. After being in the wardrobes and helping well over 4500 women I know that this is usually a mindset issue - low body confidence combined with lack of education about what actually works on your unique body. Have you ever had a vision of something bigger for yourself but lost momentum or got sidetracked and feel the moment has passed. : : : I hear you , a year ago this week just under 500 preorders of my debut book arrived at my door by ✈️ . ; These were the folks who believed in my vision and supported me, putting their money forward before it was a reality - Almost a year before that. : But the idea and vision for a book started in 2011 - but my dad’s strokes and subsequent high level care and death totally took over. I thought that moment had passed and felt dejected - but I realised I didn’t have the energy and focus to make it happen because my mindset was not my Inner Cheerleader. I had let the Inner Bitch in and was stacking all the reasons why it would never happen now. : However when I got pneumonia in 2015 I had a moment of clarity and realised I needed to work on making my mindset unstoppable - whilst working on my daily routine to make sure I nourished my best self. : Fast forward to my epiphany on the beach after meditating and then writing the book over two weekends in 2017. Again I got sidetracked as family life and paid work got so busy but I saw the plus in that I could self publish and continued to plug away to make it a reality: : The rest of the first shipment were sent by boat 🚣‍♀️ to the UK 🇬🇧 and to Australia 🇦🇺 and would take another 6 wks. : There was a lot at stake - I’d paid for everythingand had never done any step of it or designed before but it sold out within 9 wks and I paid to do another much bigger print run, which I get to appreciate everytime I go into my garage 🤣🙏😊to get a another box to send out. I am reminded of how far I have come. : Don’t give up or shrink your dream because of your reality - you need to amplify and supersize your conviction and determination to make it happen. : If you need someone who will hold the vision and give you the tools to make it happen - get in touch - I love seeing mentoring clients achieve things they’ve had on a back burner or take their projects or businesses to another level.
