Writing is where every film begins.
For this @root.ax Knowledge Session on screenwriting at @pkrff_ we brought together voices shaping some of the most exciting stories in Indian screen culture right now: @thamizhpraba_tp the writer behind landmark films Sarpatta Parambarai and Thangalaan; @gunjitchopra whose writing powered Netflix’s Kohrra and Pataal Lok; @rajiv_rajaram former Head of Tamil Content at Sony LIV with a front-row view of what gets made and why; and @sruti_ producer of the impact-driven Auto Queens, bringing a perspective on storytelling with purpose.
Together, they unpacked what it takes to turn ideas into compelling narratives, how writers can nurture their voice, and how authentic, unheard stories can still break through in both mainstream and independent spaces.
All guided by @justgeevee from KadhaiShorts, who kept the room thinking and laughing in equal measure.

Reflecting on the intense week that was!
So grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Toolbox Cohort of 2026 @efm_europeanfilmmarket
Met the kindest, most beautiful, inspiring and absolutely crazy bunch of producers from all over the world.
So, so glad I get to be part of this community!
In Part 2 of this series, Sruti talks about the kinds of stories she’s drawn to, the realities that come with producing them and the challenges emerging producers face in the industry.
Meet Sruti Lodha, our very own producer at Storiculture, working with Earthbound on the short documentary Auto Queens.
In this series, Sruti shares what went into deciding to produce the film and what the filming experience looked like on ground.
Auto Queens follows the lives of women auto-rickshaw drivers, and the work extends beyond the film through its impact campaign, which uses the documentary as a tool to spark conversations around gender, mobility, and livelihoods.
