With temperatures rising across South Asia, conversations around extreme heat are everywhere. But what does it actually feel like for people who are out in it all day?
At our Earthbound workshop with ECTE Foundation and the AutoQueens, women auto drivers spoke about what the heat does to their bodies and their work. Constant sweating, frequent colds, skin allergies, urinary infections. Long hours in vehicles where the seats heat up under the sun. Body temperature that just keeps rising. For many, the heat also makes menstrual pain more intense and harder to manage.
This is what rising heat looks like in everyday life. Not statistics, but lived experience. 🌡️
And it raises a simple question. Where do women auto drivers rest? 🚕☀️
The next post will share a few simple, practical ways to deal with this heat, for ourselves and for the people around us. 🤝🌿
