We are so honored to host @miriamhacksaw and local folk artist @aureliaannecohen !
Miriam Hacksaw is an old time fiddler, banjoist, and percussionist based in New Orleans. She grew up in Oregon, where she learned to play old time music at local jams and festivals around the Northwest.
Miriam is mixed Malayali-American, and collects folk songs from Kerala, India, bringing fragments of her ethnic background into the North American folk traditions that she participates in. As a trans lesbian of color, Miriam writes into the tradition as well, rewriting old songs as well as composing new songs in old styles to uplift historically marginalized perspectives.
Alongside touring and recording, she facilitates workshops on old time music, oral tradition and diaspora at festivals around the country. Miriam released her debut EP “The Lupine” on the Winter Solstice of 2024.
Aurelia Anne Cohen is a performance artist, song writer, accordionists, model, actress, freak and more! Based in Bisbee, AZ. Her sets include a flair for theater!

A love letter about Neurodivergence! 🔥🌶️
@missisleycanteasya has been working hard to provide this amazing showcase of local burlesque performers while showcasing living life with neurodiversity.
Some of you may have heard the term “Neuro-spicy.” Miss Isley explains it like this: “Neuro Spicy is a fun way of saying neurodivergent. And being neurodivergent means that your brain doesn't work the way a neurotypical brain works. You could have ADHD, depression, PTSD, OCD, be on the autism spectrum etc. It just means your brain is divergent, not a neurotypical brain.”
Here, they explain the moment the show became an idea: “The idea of a neurodivergent themed burlesque show first came to me after I had performed my autism acceptance act for the first time. I had many people come up to me (both performers and audience members) to tell me how moving it was. Then the thought formed, “What if there was a whole show like this? A show where every number could move people in the same way?”
Read more about their experience and how they’re building community here in Tucson! Link in bio!
