Tonight’s episode of Audio Forage airs on @area3000.radio from 8–10pm! This one’s a little different; we’re sharing a special live recording from a Q&A event we co-hosted with @spacecast.project last month at @waxmusiclounge . We invited three incredible panellists from different creative walks of life, and the energy in the room was something magical, it struck a beautiful balance between deep insight and humour: ✨ @pjenneee - DJ, writer, radio show host, curator, label owner and PhD graduate ✨ @shannonmaypowell - somatic therapist, artist, writer, poet and performer ✨ @magg._z - award-winning movement artist, creative director and producer For the second half of the episode, we’ve included a guest mix from @manusia_menari , recorded at the same event. Malik (aka Manusia Menari) is an Indonesian-Australian artist based in Naarm and one of the minds behind @home__end , a mix series connecting a community of friends from all over. We’ll be uploading the episode to SoundCloud after it airs ✨ Thanks to everyone who was involved and supported this event 🫶 📷 Incredible photography by @will.hamiltoncoates

We warmly welcome DJ Earl Grey and co-host Bex to our line up for our NIGHT program on 13 September. These two will close the night with a b2b for the very first time! @dj.earlgrey is a versatile and deeply expressive DJ based in Naarm. His sound moves through ambient, downtempo, R&B-tinged dance, and reflective grooves inviting both bodies and minds to sway. A co-founder of Best Effort Records, he champions contemporary Australian electronic music while also reissuing rare local drum & bass. Earl Grey has played standout sets at Inner Varnika where his set was so inviting, “actual babies were seen on the dancefloor” and brought in the New Year at Dieaga (IYKYK) where bottles popped in time with the deep ebb and flow of his hypnotic selections. He also extends his craft through Tender, an intimate, art-meets-music “third space” hosting yoga, deep listening, film, workshops, and Naarm’s smallest record store, reflecting his love for music as ritual and connection. @bex__e , also known as Bec Armstrong, stands out as one of Naarm’s most dynamic underground DJs, producers, and visual artists. Her sets span minimal left-field house, old-school tech-house, deep progressive rhythms, and naturalistic soundscapes, always rich, strange, and deeply textured. She’s the co-founder of Spincycle, a boundary-pushing club night and creative imprint launched with Robbie (aka Terri), known for its forward-thinking curation and immersive, genre-defying sound journeys. Alongside the dancefloor, Bex also created Space Cast, a platform blending visual art and music that supports local artists through collaborative projects and limited-run print sales. Whether behind the decks or curating space for others, Bex merges sound, art, and community in a way that’s completely her own. This will be a special one. Tickets are available via the link in bio 🔗

We are excited to introduce some of the DJ’s who will be curating the music for our NIGHT event next Saturday 13th September, Manusia Menari and co-hosts of our event, Amphi. Meet Billy and Azita, a creative power couple, making waves through their events, dj sets and radio shows. Together they DJ as Amphi, run a party series ‘Amphi & Friends’ and co-host and produce their radio show ‘Audio Forage’ on Area3000. Amphi’s sound is deep, dubby and groovy, playful and full of energy. Through their radio show Audio Forage, Amphi delves into the intersections of creative thought, music, and sound, lifting the curtain and going behind the scenes and behind the minds of bookers, music journalists, sound engineers, producers and artists featuring guest interviews with the likes of Emma Robertson, Henry Who, David Micalizzi and Will Howard, and guest mixes by a collection of local legends. Manusia Menari aka Malik is an Indonesian-Australian artist based in Naarm. A long time dancer and supporter of our local scene, Malik has now turned his attention to stepping behind the decks to share his love and his collection of music that he has been collecting for many years that spans across 90’s techno, deep house and dub techno and much more. Malik is also one of the minds behind Home End, a mix series that pulls together a community of friends from far and wide showcasing their diverse talents and soundscapes across house, techno, minimal, trip hop, progressive and more. Tickets available via the link in bio. @manusia_menari @amphi.music

Based in Naarm/Melbourne, Pjenné is a celebrated DJ, broadcaster, curator and label manager whose work is deeply connected to the underground electronic community. With the unique perspective of holding a PhD, she brings a rare depth and thoughtfulness to her craft, weaving academic insight into the sonic worlds she creates. Together with fellow DJ Millú, Pjenné co-founded Companion, a label dedicated to ethereal 90s electronica, ambient trance and psychedelic IDM. Beyond its distinctive sound, the label is recognised for its nostalgic, analog-inspired visual identity, drawing on lino prints and painting. At its core, Companion is committed to inclusivity, amplifying diverse and underrepresented voices in electronic music. For the past six years, Pjenné has hosted Passing Notes on PBS FM, a weekly show she describes as a sonic journal. Through its shifting moods, the program explores leftfield and downtempo sounds while uplifting the underground community. Each year she marks its anniversary on International Women’s Day, most recently inviting Syrian DJ Zeynep for a guest mix. For Pjenné, live FM radio offers a creative refuge in an era of hyper-curation. Pjenné is more than a DJ — she is an academic-minded sonic curator whose work spans the dancefloor, the airwaves, and the label world. With a blend of local and international recognition, she continues to champion inclusivity and push the boundaries of underground electronica. Her performances and projects are marked by immersive, progressive and atmospheric journeys that reflect both community and artistry. We can’t wait to host @pjenneee for our Q&A with @magg._z and @shannonmaypowell on September 13th. Tickets available via the link in bio. Photography by @thomasjpg and @___l_o_o_k_____closer

With the warmth of their words still resonating in our ears from our Sound Immersion at @tender_place_ earlier this year, Shannon May Powell returns to another Space Cast event, and this time we have the pleasure of hearing insights and wisdom from a truly embodied artist in every sense of the word as part of our Q&A. Shannon May Powell is a multidisciplinary artist and creative shapeshifter exploring the intersections of sound, movement and words into soulful, embodied practice. At the heart of their work is a dedication to creative expression and ritual as a soulful practice and a boundless exploration of identity, sexuality and gender. Whether through music, art, poetry, writing, performance, movement, meditation or somatic therapy, Shannon explores ways of being at the edges of, and beyond, the human self - interconnected, relational and sensing the self as part of a wider ecology and interwoven in our environments. We can’t wait to chat to Shannon, along with @pjenneee and @magg._z , Saturday 13th September at @waxmusiclounge . Tickets via the link in bio.

Reminincing some fond memories from last year’s @spacecast.project Q&A event at @highnote_____ , which we had the honour of hosting. 🩵 This community event celebrated the collaboration (mix tape & artwork) between Louis McCoy & Jaime Brohier. Our amazing panel of @louis__mccoy , @jaimebrohier , and Space Cast founder @bex__e shared so many beautiful thoughts, vulnerability, their creative processes and unique ways of living. It was so heartwarming to see all the smiles and laughs in the room; a reflection of the honest, authentic and refreshingly deep convos that were had. A very fitting location for the event, as one of Jaime’s art pieces was already hanging on the wall. Healing music by @millusboon , Louis McCoy & ourselves, and thought provoking prompts by @base________ tied the night into a nice bow. Thanks to everyone who came and supported the artists and the not-for-profit initiative that is Space Cast. 💞 ~~~~~~~~~~~ Keep an eye out, we have something special to announce very soon. In the meantime, you can listen back to last year’s Q&A on our SoundCloud. 🌸 📸 Gorgeous photos by @emusedfilm

We worked closely with our printers Hound and Bone to reproduce this artwork by Bec Armstrong. This painting is made up of deep tones like Maroon, Raw and Burnt Umber, Burnt Sienna and Carbon Black, with layers of Transparent Venetian Red and Transparent Red Oxide, it was incredibly hard to capture the tones of this work, which are ever changing with the light in its surroundings, but Hound and Bone did a fantastic job at this, and the finished product is a lush fine art print with lots of depth and texture. “I wanted to capture the deep and textural red tones that you see in the bush in bark snd leaves. I felt like this mixtape by Cash took me into the natural world but was still very warm” — Bec Armstrong on how she created this work in response to the mixtape by Cash. Purchase a limited edition print or listen to the mixtape via the link in our bio. @houndandbonestudio @808spritzqueen @bec.armstrong.art @bex__e 📸 @thomasjpg
