Some images from last year. I rarely find myself quite ready to reflect on the year right as it ends, so here goes, a few weeks late. Still counts I reckon.
2025 was a year with incredible highs and some profoundly low lows.
@salma_rina and I arrived into a city on fire in January. We cleaned ash off every surface of our apartment, and were eventually forced to leave that beloved home, to make room for others whose house had burned up. Fair enough. We found a new place, in a new part of LA, which i’ve loved turning into our home.
We scouted NOLA during their first blizzard in a hundred years. We marched in the street as ICE swarmed Los Angeles. There’s a bit in there about climate change, surely.
Marina and I got married in Santa Barbara in the spring. It was sublime. I got to see my brother
@_julianjosiah and
@internet_pr0vider become parents to young Harvey, with whom I’m quite taken, and which makes me an uncle (great gig), and Marina and
@hitomers aunties. My parents became grandparents for the first time
@outtafocus54 @juseno . Harvey rips.
I moved to New Orleans for a few months and shot my first union movie with
@nikki.mejia . It was beautiful and challenging. Met some extraordinary people and filmmakers, Trapper chief among them. I’m still floored by his loss. RIP Trapper. Thanks to a wonderful crew, we got through it.
@jimiryan818 @el_chipacabra @jmacgrips @itsquietalright @southernsteadi @romeenterprise @lanceromano and many others.
We ended the year in Spain, bringing Marina and my families together for the first time, which was long overdue and wonderful. I missed Noah all year long, and thought of him during the worst moments and the best ones too.
Feels good to finally be back home in LA after months away. Picking up the pieces. Holler if you're around.
Much love to you all.
S.
