poor man’s process lighting experiment on the VP wall w
@nftscinematography
i wanted to try something challenging lighting wise so
@liamismorgan & i put our braincells together & chose a tricky plate coming in & out of direct sunlight, in which the car took 2 left turns & a mini roundabout (the sun having to do almost 360 travel around the car)
we used flags, cutters, spinning mirrors, handheld gel frames, foliage & dimming controls & just about anything reflective or interactive to help create a realistic changing ambient world (& to make all of my classmates look totally insane lol), adding little reflections from passing by cars & buildings. for the sun we used a 5K rolling around the car, pushed by

it was tricky to get the sun to circle the car at an angle which wouldn’t spill all over the wall ofc. the 12x12 frame for ambient was in the way of the ‘sun path’ & we couldn’t get the right angle so for the last left turn towards the end of the take we panned the 5k into a mirror which felt really natural & worked super well in the end.
super interesting workshop with the guidance of Mr. President

@7isatribe 57mm & sony venice!!! it was a whole load of fun to figure this one out, observe the plate, try to match it as best as possible, balancing frontlit & backlit looks in one continuous shot & ofc getting rid of spill & reflections on the wall & car. BTS vid shot by

in this take the timing is a little off but afterwards we did a couple of more takes where we synced the sun perfectly to the plate, but ofc we didn’t take any BTS of that but that’s the idea!!!
