La Perra has been officially selected at this year’s @quinzaine_des_cineastes at @festivaldecannes !
“Dominga Sotomayor’s La Perra takes place in a remote island on the south of Chile where Silvia (Manuela Oyarzún) used to live since her childhood and where one day she finds Yuri the dog that is going to change her life.
“The island it’s also another character of this story, the wildness, the wind, the Ocean. Every element we captured is important to understand the state of mind of Silvia and what she hides in her memory.
“Sony VENICE helps to achieve the challenge of being in very strong weather conditions and always perform at the best to give me a rich digital negative.
I feel lucky to have shared this adventure with a very good companion in the camera crew: 1st AC Pablo Vergara, 2nd AC Manuel Macaya and Rosa Mendez.”

Heimsuchung has been officially selected at this year’s @festivaldecannes in the Cannes Première section.
“We shot Heimsuchung using the VENICE camera in the 3:2 aspect ratio. This corresponds to a classic vintage format, which struck us as the most suitable choice for depicting the house and its architecture, as well as the surrounding forest. This format sits precisely between the classic Academy ratio (1.33) and the European widescreen ratio (1.66).
“Furthermore, this camera offers exceptional light sensitivity - ideally suited for improvised shots utilising natural light, even during twilight hours. Combined with the use of fast lenses, this approach created a distinctive photographic look characterised by optical precision and aesthetic bokeh.
“This specific format and choice of optics allowed us to capture both portraits that feel intimate and compelling, and sweeping shots of architecture and landscape.
Filming spanned the course of a full year, yet always featuring the same cast and crew working at the very same location. This demanded immense dedication from everyone involved, but in return, it promised a truly unique and urgent film - one that tracks the very pulse of life itself.”
