Cheers to all of you for the kind words lately on my @swu.fm guest mix and vibing with the return of Newtype Rhythms - thrilled to share another episode with you, this time courtesy of @earlyreflex ’s very own @alecpacemusic .
The Turin-based producer has been platforming and shaping the new sounds of bass, ambient and experimental music on his Early Reflex, all whilst sharpening his own sonic proclivities with a spectacular six-tracker of his own, entitled ‘Respiro 22:16’ - swaying between emotive highs and rumbly low-end with a deft touch.
That same approach is evident in their guest mix for Episode 201, which starts at around 40 minutes in and is chock-full of excellent selections from the likes of @dj_ploy , @djrum_felix , @metrist.sososo , @s_p_e_c_i_a_l_r_e_q_u_e_s_t + more, all whilst providing some of his amazing edits of @errorsmith_ , @robertmiles_music (my personal favorite), and yes, even @thecure .
I opened with some steppers and surprises, tunes from @buckley_uk , @carre__carre , @danny_goliger , @dj_distance , @remikaval , and yes…@arminvanbuuren .

🪞 NEW LOOKS, NEW MIX 🔈
Happy to finally share this guest mix that I was honored to deliver to the ever-impressive @bell.curve for her @swu.fm show - huge thanks to her for the trust and support!
In the last year, I’ve been delving back to music that was formative to my club sensibilities - eras of bass music that stirred up something inside that kept me chasing the ever-present sub-sonic thrill. That’s firmly due to playing @offwrld_____ last year and embracing my roots (shouts to @kellen303ny ) - and rekindling lost embers of the flame. Now, I’m bridging the gap with sounds from invigorating up-and-comers (@e_sobolik , @eva.loveless , @ma_sha_music , @sister_zo , etc) with the echoes of soundsystems past (@addisongroove , @scubaofficial , @tony_surgeon ) and am enjoying it immensely.

It’s been far too long, but I’m back behind the decks at my favorite foggy dancefloor at @bossanovacivicclub for BUCKLE UP BABY - @emmafine_ ’s incredible party series that steps on the gas mid-week for you bass-bin lovers.
I’m honored to have been invited to play on this banger of a lineup featuring the icon @wavejumper_drex , the reliable rudeboy @_lorenzob and of course, the queen herself @emmafine_ . This collection of talent is ready to crank up the NOS from beginning to end and keep you dancing until the lights come up (the house lights, not me doing a light show for all DJs playing throughout the night).
Party starts at 10PM and we’ll keep the pedal to the medal from the jump. 🔓 ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED 🔓
It’s honestly hard to believe but Newtype Rhythms has reached its 200th episode. It’s a time to be thoughtful, and also turn things up a bit. The plans I have for the series in terms of guest output as well as future events will be equal parts surprising, thoughtful, extravagant and introspective - but most importantly, impactful. I’m forever grateful to every guest that has ever provided a guest mix as well as every person who has ever listened to a second of any show and has shared it, from its early days at @newtownradio to its current platform at @invertedaudio . Thank you to every single one of you. 🙏🏻
And who better to commemorate such a landmark than with Monterrey legend and high-octane hero @regal86regal86 . I was grateful to have him headline an event I did back in 2023 at @bossanovacivicclub and had known how immensely talented of a DJ and producer he was, but after seeing him take that densely-packed room for a wallop of a journey - I knew that he was different than any DJ I had seen before. That frenetic, kinetic sense of shifting percussion and bombastic buoyancy was unique to him, and it always kept me hoping that he would say yes to doing the series. Thankfully, he did and I’m truly grateful to share this landmark guest mix with you.

Back on @swu.fm in a bit - ( 3pm NYC is this month 7pm UK because daylight savings) with a guest mix from @sheepshead__ this month! the NYC native DJ, journalist, promoter and more takes us through his inspirations in bass music / dubstep beyond.
Sheepshead is a real “head” for the music, and in this mix he reflects on over 15 years in music, touching on peak rave roots, and engaging the past while holding space for the future of bass music, like very early dubstep or breakstep from labels such as Destructive Recordings or Storming Productions. He’s also going into more future-forward bass music from labels such as Dime Shift and Bait.
This mix was inspired by authencitiy, which many artists are going back to the drawing board around in this time with so much “noise” and pressure to push your work in a way that feels antithetical to the culture.
Episode 200 of Newtype Rhythms, his mix series is coming up, and with that in mind he tried to fuse where he is at, the sounds of the past and his roots, and the sounds of people doing new takes and evolutions of it now.
What’s past is not prologue, what’s past is also present and future.

Breaking through in the late-2000s as the UK underground was rapidly shifting, Pariah’s early releases landed on R&S Records and quickly set him apart. From a long-running solo practice to co-founding Voam with Blawan, his work continues to shape contemporary UK club culture.
Joining him, Melbourne-born, London-based Surusinghe has built a multifaceted profile spanning DJing, production, promotion, and label work. She’s made a name for herself through her exploratory sets that move fluidly across bass, broken rhythms, reggaeton, and techno.
Also on the bill, a special NYC b2b brings together two deeply embedded Brooklyn figures: Eva Loveless b2b Sheepshead. A solo set follows from DJ, organizer, and Hong Kong Community Radio resident Mui Mui, and Brooklyn-based music journalist, DJ, and HEADS KNOW founder Arielle Lana rounding out the night.

Wow, it has been quite some time, huh?
Apologies for the radio silence, I was in Europe for the last few weeks, burning the 5AM oil, eating and drinking my way through several fine and finicky establishments - definitely pushed myself too hard and came out of it a bit worse for wear. Thankfully, I’m back at full capacity today and the timing couldn’t be better.
TONIGHT - I’m honored to be playing for @s1brooklyn at @rash_nyc for @oblivionarchive ’s release party, alongside some new and familiar faces alike (@_adamhadari , @boyexploded , @muhe_mm + @_seikel ) - grateful to play alongside these energetic, genre-forward contemporaries and happy to provide a bit of kicks and kitsch to the proceedings.
