Thank you to everyone who came out to last nights screening of SEEN. 💚
We are thrilled to be bringing Parent TV to the community through the Okanagan Regional Library.
To those of you who shared questions during our live panel discussion that we didn’t have time to answer, please feel free to reach out to us directly or follow along as we will try our best to address each one via social media.
Day 1 of Connected in Purpose Provincial Conference - Advancing Early Intervention Practices for Families brought together 235 professionals from
across the province connected in purpose - a shared commitment to supporting children.
We were grateful to learn from @dr.vanessalapointe , whose keynote grounded us in the importance of relationship-based practice and reminded us why this work matters so deeply.
The conversations at the networking table conversations were filled with thoughtful questions, practical ideas, and genuine connection.
The viewing of @seendocumentary allowed us to reflect on how our early experiences shape the way we show up for the children we care for.
Looking forward to continuing the conversations tomorrow.

Last May we hosted a community screening of the documentary Seen with @thevillage_nb 💜
It was a special afternoon bringing together parents, professionals, and community members to watch this powerful film. We were joined by local paediatrician Dr Claire Egbers and psychologist Debra Lawler to have open conversations about connection, behaviour, and how our own experiences shape the way we show up for children.
If you missed the event, the good news is that Seen is now available to stream online 🎬 . It is a must watch for any parents.
You can also access the resource booklet we created especially for the Northern Beaches Screening. It’s filled with helpful information and supports for parents. This is now available to download for FREE on our website. 🔗 Link in our bio.

I haven’t stopped thinking about this quote since I first heard it in @seendocumentary
I’ve had the privilege of listening to the stories of people of all ages and stages of life, and I’ve noticed:
When people talk about the important relationships in their lives—especially with parents and caregivers—they don’t just talk about what happened.
They talk about HOW IT FELT.
The relational dance, the emotional tone, the felt sense of safety (or lack thereof).
That’s what stays.
This message isn’t about perfection. Kids don’t need or want perfection, they want real imperfect parents who make them feel safe, secure, and loved. Rather, than being about perfection, this message is a reminder that the RELATIONSHIP we have with our kids—and how it feels—matters, too.
We need only to reflect back on our own childhood to remember how each relationship we had with those we were close to FELT different. Each had its own dance and its own emotional tone.
One day, our children won’t just remember what WE DID for them—they’ll remember HOW IT FELT to be around us.
That’s the legacy we leave.

Another perfect evening with @princealfredcollege where I had so much being interviewed by Deputy Headmaster and Head of Junior School, the magnificent Jon Gelsthorpe.
Jon came to me with an idea a little while back, to bring PAC parents together to watch the @seendocumentary followed by time to debrief, gather and share stories, and open the floor for question time. I knew he was onto something special.
We didn’t have popcorn - but we didn’t need it. This gathering of extraordinary parents and educators, was a perfect success.
After watching SEEN together, we took a deep and courageous dive into parenting, the neuroscience of connection, the role of parents in raising fine young men and the power of a shared culture of warmth, safety and kindness.
Jon’s questions as always, were on point. The parents welcomed me back with their usual warmth, open hearts, curiosity and vulnerability. They were a joy to spend an evening with.
Seeing some of the world’s best parenting experts all in one spot was a gift. Thank you @maggiedentauthor , @dr.vanessalapointe , @laelstone , @drbillygarvey@nathandwallis and @beingseenpod Professor Selena Bartlett for your extraordinary stories, research and genuine leadership for families around our world.
Thank you Jon, @mckenzie_emma , @clubhowat and all the educators who are always perfect company and generous hosts.
Until next time. Here’s to parenting ❤️ MNP #connection #compassion #community #parenting #positivemindsaustralia

It’s nice to be back. I’ve had a nice break and I’m ready to get back into sharing the wisdom and knowledge I learnt through being 25 years clean and sober and seeing the same counsellor for 23 years. Seeing someone for so long has been a major attribute to my trauma healing. @prof_selena_bartlett a professor, author and valued participant in the @seendocumentary talked about how having one healthy present adult who truly sees you can be enough to heal trauma. This is what me counsellor was for me and I want to pass this onto you.
My Friday Fibs is about how I moved from my head to my heart.
If you want to a see counsellor I do have availability for you right now. Or you know anyone who needs a counsellor I would be truly grateful if you could pass on my details and direct them to my website .au.
Please, please make sure you give a like, comment and follow if you like my content or if it resonates with you. So much work goes into creating posts and one like or follow does go a long way.

It was a long weekend back in June, when I had the enormous pleasure of chatting with the lovely Anne, who is featured in the wonderfully raw, beautifully created parenting doco, Seen The Film. ❤️
Finally, that content is now available for your viewing pleasure!!
No edits, no frills, just two women talking about this extremely brilliant film, parenting, big feelings, and how being connected to self, and other is so incredibly important that I literally decided to name my business after it.
📢 So if you'd like to watch, here is the link to our chat -

And you thought the start of the year couldn't get any better 😉
2025 was a year of ordinary everyday magic and truly extraordinary moments ✨
I had the privilege of publishing my first book ‘Beyond Difficult: An Attachment-Based Guide to Dealing with Difficult People’ with one of my dearest friends @drjessiestern associate professor @pomonacollege who also happens to be an attachment and relationships expert, and one of the most wonderful humans I know.
One of the real highlights of this year was the support, enthusiasm, and encouragement I received from colleagues, friends, and my beautiful family while writing and launching Beyond Difficult.
I love the work I do. It’s truly a privilege to know and support the individuals and families I see in our practice and to have the opportunity to present, educate, and speak on the topics I’m most passionate about.
I’m excited to step into the Director role on the @aapi.org.au board and looking forward to seeing the positive changes we can make in 2026 within our profession and for the individuals and communities we support.
Beyond Difficult @simonschusterau@affirmpress is available in book stores in Australia and New Zealand, as well as online, and as an audio book.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.’ — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. ✨💛
In the wake of the Bondi tragedy, many families are carrying heavy hearts. As parents, we may not have all the answers, but we can offer what our children need most — safety, compassion, and love. 🤍

It has taken me some time to metabolize the experience of the Canadian film premier of SEEN that took place this past fall in Toronto.
@seendocumentary
It was a celebration of the human experience and a communal nod to the daily efforts of secure attachment; more emotional safety more often.
A massive thank you to my friend Sam Jockel @_samjockel_ (Gold Coast, Aus) who invited me to host this event and entrusted me with the privilege of being on the panel. So much respect for your humble vibes and zone of genius.
Thank you to (the queen) Dr. Vanessa Lepointe @dr.vanessalapointe (Vancouver, CA) who I still can’t believe I got to share the stage with. For sharing in delicious Mediterranean food together and for always bringing the fun.
Deep gratitude to my fierce visionary and soul sister Kyla Penner @kylampenner who traveled from Alberta to attend and is deeply committed to meaningful, rebellious work that honours children and families.
To my brothers whom I deeply adore Scott and Dave, thank you for coming out to support. And for your conscious dedication to being strong fathers and husbands.
To my parents who covered for me at home and allowed for me to do this work travel.
To my friend and client Allison (and her husband Justin) who did the honour of providing a land acknowledgement and for graciously hosting me in your home to enjoy a meal and a walk - it was next level special to hug you IRL after so many years of being your coach and guide.
A huge heartfelt shout out to my friends, colleagues and partners
