TRIBE AND TURF
This shoot was meant to be straightforward.
Daytime. Planned looks. Clear direction. Everyone showed up ready to work.
Not long after we started, we got stopped.
We were questioned, harassed, delayed, and at some point, some of my equipment was seized.
It threw everything off. Time was going, and the light was going with it.
For a bit, it honestly felt like we might not be able to pull it off.
But nobody left.
No one suggested we cancel or reschedule. Everyone stayed and waited it out.
That stood out to me.
Because it’s easy to show up when things are smooth.
It’s different when things get complicated and people still choose to stay.
We had to adjust everything.
The timing changed. The plan changed. The energy shifted.
By the time we could actually shoot again, it was already late.
So we leaned into it and created with what we had.
What came out of it is what you’re seeing here.
For me, this project is really about that moment—when things stopped going according to plan,
and everyone decided to keep going anyway.
That’s what Tribe and Turf means to me on this one:
the people who stayed,
the space we made work,
and the decision to finish what we started.
This one means a lot to me.
