One thing that’s probably not always super obvious when looking at me is that I’m a Yoruba boy. A “ concentrated Yoruba boy” as Mr. Bayo, one of my old primary school teachers would call me.
And I’m the proud kind. I’m the kind that always made deepest research about my culture. The kind whose favourite movie of all time is Saworo Ide. The only thing that could keep me awake past 9pm when I was a kid was a Yoruba programme by the very best OAPs like Kola Olootu. The kind that saw anything less than a 90/100 in Yoruba language as a failure.
Ogbontarigi omo Yoruba nimi. So anytime I get to shoot a Yoruba look, I feel so much joy. I hope the joy with which I shot this project is palpable and I hope it spreads to you. ❤️✨
