The year of our lord 2025 turned out to be my year of Evolution. It was supposed to be a year of Exploration but I never seem to be able to resist the allure of Knowledge and the growth that comes with it and for better or worse, 2025 isn’t any different. This also plays a huge role in these 20 images I’ve chosen to be the faces of my Art in 2025. I believe I created a lot this year. I did not even get to upload half of what I created. But these 20 images in my 2025 wrapped tell a story of Learning. For each of these projects, I learnt something I previously thought impossible. I did something I had probably been scared to attempt. I unlocked a door I previously did not even know to knock on. I’m grateful for all the people I met, for all the new experiences I had, for all the moments I shared and for all the memories I made. Here’s to hoping that 2026 stays a year of exploration but then again, I wouldn’t mind a year of application of the 2025 knowledge. Because I believe moving forward, surviving, thriving, learning, growing and becoming a better version of your self everyday is the real definition of Living. The day Pastor Toyin came to the studio, my fridge was full. Yes, that sounds like a great starting point. 😂 Look, as a man, I rarely get gifts. As a photographer, even less gifts. A lot of people will tell you about how if you give them this discount or that, they’ll do this or that. You’ll probably never hear from them again till the next year birthday shoot. The point is I almost never get gifts. Anytime I’m gifted anything, no matter how small, I feel like God made that day for me. So you can imagine how I must have felt when Pastor Toyin brought enough to the studio to basically fill my fridge. More? She gifted the whole team. The entire team, nay, the entire studio felt her presence. When I sent her the images, I told her about how I sip a tiny bit of the wine(non alcoholic) she gave me every morning so that I would not finish. 😂😂😂 It later finished sha. 😭 Also also, I know everyone knows her as a pastor, I also do. But anyone seen her Modelling skills ? Youwontbilifit. This absolutely gracious and amazing woman of God is best experienced and I’m glad I met her. EBUNOLUWA for AMVCA 2026 cultural night. One thing that’s probably not always super obvious when looking at me is that I’m a Yoruba boy. A “ concentrated Yoruba boy” as Mr. Bayo, one of my old primary school teachers would call me. And I’m the proud kind. I’m the kind that always made deepest research about my culture. The kind whose favourite movie of all time is Saworo Ide. The only thing that could keep me awake past 9pm when I was a kid was a Yoruba programme by the very best OAPs like Kola Olootu. The kind that saw anything less than a 90/100 in Yoruba language as a failure. Ogbontarigi omo Yoruba nimi. So anytime I get to shoot a Yoruba look, I feel so much joy. Although Mrs. Mariam had never had a shoot herself, she made sure her kids had birthday photographs. That’s just one of the many sacrifices mothers make for their children. I’m an only child to a single mother, so of course, I believe We need more Mother’s Day in a year (ok, maybe more Father’s Days too. 😂). Happy international Mother’s Day to every mother out there. Your sacrifices will never be in vein and may all the seeds you plan grow up and take care of you for many years to come. I feel too many people treat the work they do as an inconvenience or as if they are doing people a favour. Let’s be honest, if more people loved their works, we wouldn’t have cases of negligence or corruption at workplaces. She really does her work with a fervor that is admirable and I think that makes her worthy of being celebrated on Worker’s Day.
