Once upon a time in Africa, wealth did not sit in banks or on screens. It was carried in cowries.
These small shells held great value. They were used for trade, marriage rites, and as a symbol of status. Cowries moved markets and connected communities. They represented more than money. They showed identity, culture, and social worth.
Today, they are mostly seen as ornaments (decorations). But in the past, cowries were a powerful form of currency and a key part of the African life.
