Drone in B-Flat is a project I created for ‘Present Voices’
@present_voices , an exhibition organized by Yui
@ugly_society_lover and
@rubyantonowiczbehnan who brought together artists and curated this 3-day exhibition of live performances and time-based media, held in March at
@electro_studios_project_space in St Leonards-on-Sea.

Drone in B-Flat is a sonic and visual exploration of life under constant surveillance. After spending months in Lebanon beneath the persistent hum of Israeli drones—an unrelenting presence that blurs the lines between war zones and so-called safe spaces—I decided to play my violin alongside the drone’s oppressive vibrato: an absurd interaction with an inescapable presence.
Accompanying this performance is a video work that examines the experience of living under an invisible yet deafening surveillance infrastructure, and the psychological toll of persistent monitoring. Together, the sound and video question how noise structures public space and collective experience, asking what it means to endure—and perhaps to let go—through sound.
Huge thanks to
@moussashabandar for filming and editing this project with me, and to
@mohamedchoucair for the drone recordings. I edited a 6-minute sound piece using his material that he generously made public to everyone. Huge thanks to my friend Yui
@ugly_society_lover for initiating this, and for taking care of all the installation and preps while I was sipping my kahwa ☕️ in Beirut.
Lastly, big thanks to my cousin
@jeanmadani for giving me access to his studio one subscription where I recorded and edited the sounds and my bro
@pierrebouaoun for his sound equipment. It takes lots of helpful people to be able to create something :)
