Honored to have been accepted to the ASC mentorship program for 2025. Thank you to everyone involved. I can’t believe I’ve been so lucky to create cool shit with such amazing people, time flies when you’re having fun
Echo Park In March,
I think one of my favorite things to do is get my camera and just walk around, or bike around, doesn’t matter. I have a coffee table a book called lost Los Angeles. It’s part of a series showcase in different historical landmarks that have been lost a time. I’ve always been fascinated with how mundane objects become beautiful because attention is paid to them. Buildings in particular.
As an example, the NY brownstone was once talked about with as much vitriol as we talk about the current 5 over 1 grey boxes being build everywhere. I have no doubt the brownstone has, and will age more gracefully, but the point still stands.
It’s important to photograph the streets as they exist now and create those time capsules for the future.
Had to see the snow monkeys. Then food, then moving, traveling north for better snow and the second leg of the journey. Airports are easy now, almost relaxing after years of travel with camera cases. Our snowboards provided a rewarding change of pace as we traveled from the inner valleys to the north island of Hokkaido. It snowed for 8 days. Our tracks filling in from the night before and making each new dawn a fresh start.
I’ve never been to a place where this much snow is tolerable for this long, growing up in Colorado you can expect several feet to hang around, but 10…15? It boggles the mind that the city still bustled with unexpected momentum as sidewalks turn to snow banks.
Nagano, and the surrounding areas.
We stopped by this small restaurant after snowboarding to get some food, we parked in this open lot next to a road, we ate. Upon returning we found we’d been parked in like legos by a kei truck (slide 4) we didn’t see anyone around, because it was late, so the four of us just picked up the truck and moved it, pulled out and then put it back gently. We had to do a big roundabout to get back on the road, and when we returned, we saw the owner, literally scratching his head in confusion. I guess it was pay to park but we didn’t see the signs.
Turned 30 in Tokyo this month.
Spent 3 days and then headed to the country for a couple weeks of snowboarding, the last decade was better then I could have anticipated in every aspect. Here’s to 10 more ferocious years.
My account is about to be overrun with travel pics for a few weeks so bear with me 🙌
Some pictures from my life. Mostly still going through a black and white phase, it’s been a while so I might just need to get this out of my system, or it proves not to be a phase. I always loved really graphic black and white comics growing up, it’s kind of a free pass to make everything instantly enigmatic.
