A little over a week ago, we had the pleasure of co-hosting our third edition of Sound Lab. Three events in one year, just for our DJ friends - that makes us DAM proud! We learned so much from @kutcorners and @adjnamedflow this round, and we lovvvved seeing all the conversations that took place well after workshops were done. A huge thank you to our collaborators in crime - @tr1xamillion and @specialsays_ , without which this event would not be possible. DJs are at the core of so many events, but what we realized was that these same working DJs don’t get as many opportunities to connect with one another outside of a gig to learn and/or enhance specific skills that are crucial to their long term success in the industry. Back in October, we tested something I’ve always believed in: The best events don’t need to be loud to be memorable. For one night only, we held @rhythmsectionoak ’s first-ever Murder Mystery party. We stripped away the usual Halloween tricks—no blaring music, no alcohol as the centerpiece, just curiosity full steam ahead. 🚂 The goal was simple: prove that a full room can run on intrigue and intention alone. We didn’t advertise the non-alcoholic bar. We brought in four culture breakers to curate the tracks, do live tattoos, tarot readings, and smokey yakitori on the rooftop. The result? Sold out bar. Full house. Proof that when you give people something worth paying attention to, they show up. To more experiments in the labs that welcome crazy ideas. (Spoiler alert: @rjkoolraul died that night.)
