Last week we launched R/GA By Design at the legendary @rizzolibookstore in NYC. It was a wonderful evening, full of stories, memories and appreciation for the people who have shaped R/GA over the past 50 years.

Friends! Today is Transgender Day of Visibility, so it felt like a natural moment to share that last year I returned to my spiritual design home: R/GA.
In my previous chapter here, I was known as Rigby. This time, I’ve been welcomed back as Ren. That meant retiring my old 🟥R/GBY logo and replacing it with a new one. Luckily, my chosen name works even better: a small gift from the graphic gods!
In the past I would have chosen a different headshot: a more serious expression, or arms folded hovering-ECD-style, maybe even try the infamous Steve Jobs chin-pinch. This time I chose the most joyful image, because it reflects how I actually feel.
Visibility, to me, is not about attention. It is about choosing to be seen on your own terms, and to speak for yourself in your own words. Today, I’m doing just that. Happy TDOV to one and all.

Belated but heartfelt thanks to Design Fest Brum for inviting me to give the closing keynote at this year's festival. It was a wonderfully diverse three-day celebration of creativity, with an easygoing "ego-free" vibe as Michael Johnson put it.
I talked about the sometimes-painful process of reinvention and shared some learnings from my last few years, specifically on how to find your way back on track if you ever get lost (as I did).
I couldn't be more grateful for the warm welcome and to everyone who shared photos or commented afterward. The love was felt and appreciated.
Founders Luke and Dan put a whole year into planning DFB. They don't do it for the money; in fact, they don't make any. Instead, they make many of the talks free, with the others priced affordably. Luke, Dan, and the fantastic volunteers represent our industry at its best: designers giving back to designers. Their generosity is inspiring.

What an honor to have been chosen to judge the prestigious Cannes Festival, Glass Lion Award 2024, which celebrates culture-shifting creativity.
Recognizing work that implicitly or explicitly addresses issues of gender inequality or prejudice, through the conscious representation of gender in design & advertising.
The work should aim to positively impact ingrained gender inequality, imbalance, or injustice. Demonstrating how the work tackles, highlights or redresses issues of gender representation.
I'll be joining a stellar cast of jurors from around the world, including the legendary Cindy Gallop serving as President.
Judging takes place in France between 17-19 June, winners announced at the Awards Show 21st June. I can't wait to see the work.
