“We felt that infrared cinematography would hide our characters in plain sight, transmitting visually this upsetting and restless feeling. Getting used to this new and conter-intuitive way of lighting took a while. On top of that, a good amount of scenes were shot both in IR and in color, demanding two totally different set-ups and narrative languages. You almost have to re-wire your brain every time you switch cameras. The filters used are infrared filters made by Kolari. The lenses are Master Primes. We lit most of the scenes with Tungsten lights and infrared lights invisible to the human naked eye. LED lights do almost nothing to an infrared sensor. It's a very counter-intuitive process.
