They emerged as a b2b duo by way of collaborating on Tāmaki Makaurau’s ANTIDAWN nights. RA MIX 059: Sequentia - Live at Nympho Sequentia (@hackhag ) is a DJ and promoter of Ngāti Mutunga and Moriori descent based in Tāmaki Makaurau. Drawing influence from the bass-heavy culture of their Ōtautahi roots and their earlier experimental / improvisational projects, Sequentia has shared stages with the likes of Mechatok, Tim Reaper, Moktar, Mike Q, Loefah, Isabella Lovestory and James K. They host a monthly radio show on @95bfm called ‘Soundbleed’, and in 2020 they founded @relatedarticles - which functions as a monthly broadcast, a club night and a record label “at the forefront of releasing some of the most forward-thinking electronic music in the country” [Flying Nun]. In 2019 they co-established the biennial 3-day experimental music event @outlier.festival , a multi-modal project platforming new electronic music from Aotearoa’s experimental and exploratory practitioners. Sequentia’s eclectic and boundary-defying sets have seen them perform internationally and across festivals in Aotearoa, traversing elements of downtempo, ambient, leftfield techno and global club music, jungle and more - with an emphasis on drawing connections across genres and careful curation which echos the environment.
