Thank you to
@lohas_australia for showing us around the wonderful Clay House last month. This was a beautifully executed collaboration along with
@muci_architects and
@cumberlandbuild to showcase clay as a building material.
There were plenty of interesting structural details in this house! The extruded clay arch 'Bovedillas' spanning between the steel ribs acted as the permanent formwork for the concrete floor slab without requiring any propping, allowing for thin and efficient floor structures. Hit-miss brick screens bookend the terrace extension, stabilised with horizontal plates and the floating stair was achieved with a hidden steel blade tucked between glazing mullions.
