Trying to get a stylist’s hair done while everyone is working is basically a relay race 😂✨
@jbooneblowouts handled Deanna’s @iamnaturallove_ color, treatment, and @dysonhairpro prep before I jumped into the cut and styling phase somewhere between clients. Everybody @salonpk touched her hair at some point..and honestly, that was the fun of it all. 💛
There are just things we can say to each other in the salon that don’t feel safe to say online.
There’s a heaviness so many are swallowing right now.
The insane part is the ‘composure’… the expectation to keep smiling, posting, and performing while suppressing grief, exhaustion, and fist flinging anger at the state of the world.
A lot of people are not okay. They’re just composed.
The chair informs and heals mutually.

Some people were in that room today as witnesses. I was in that room as someone who knows exactly what it cost to get there. Grateful to see it!
And my goodness, The honoring of Women! Honoring @itayshaphoto , @ursulastephen meant sooo much in a room full of the very women this industry has always undercredited and under championed.
And and and celebrating my @chuckielovehair , whom I love dearly and have had the honor of sharing love, learning and sets with, felt like the whole room levitating and locked in at once. As he says: “the eye must travel . “ and we did.
Today was another milestone in a long fought movement . Built on the backs of a whole communities of artists, educators, disruptors , first and onlys that kept showing up before it was meaningfully championed.
