Basque & Spanish bellow 🌱 People often say that making a book is like having a baby. To me, it feels more like the moment your children move out.  For ten years, I’ve been recreating the world described by women accused of witchcraft: magic ointments, animal metamorphoses, giving birth to toads and nursing them, flying on a horseback, fire, and rotten apples. All this time, these images lived only with me; as of yesterday, anyone can hold them in their hands. It’s a strange feeling, losing control over what will happen to those pictures or how they’ll be interpreted. Just like when a daughter leaves home: now her own adventure begins. ✨ Making this book has been incredibly difficult. Sometimes I wonder how we keep making books despite so many limitations. But I had a wild idea to make it possible: bringing together @overlapse and @edicionescomisura , the two publishers who have trusted my work from the start. This coedition made It possible to tell this story in Basque (the language of the Witches), Spanish, and English. Thanks to @insituartfestival we won the @gobiernovasco_eus publishing grant to print it. @marinacmeyer spent weeks lost in a cloud of witches, just as I did while taking the photos, to design this complex and beautiful object. Amaia Nausia contributed the history of witchcraft in the Basque Country, and Alice, a descendant of one of the women accused in Salem, connected witches from all over the world. Heartfelt thanks also to @museodebrujas_zugarramurdi and @getxokultura for their support. I truly hope this book serves to demystify the figure of the witch, to separate her from mythology and, by giving these women back their names and surnames, finally humanize them. Fly high, witches! In this work, Bryan Anselm brings together years and years of fieldwork documenting the disasters caused by climate change. The title itself, Sound the Sirens takes us straight to the heart of the project. His work is meticulous, dangerous, and extremely empathetic. This book builds a bridge between victims and viewers, seeking to break down the wall that makes us feel we are on one side or the other. It also provided essential support in developing the project further and ultimately bringing it to completion as a photobook.” Officially launched in March at Unseen (@unseenphotofair ) 2026, “Strawberry Blue” began after the artist’s migration from Greece to the Netherlands, where he was seriously injured in a road accident shortly after arriving. An arduous recovery process, along with upheaval in adapting to an unfamiliar environment, triggered an inner quest for belonging and identity redefinition. Over time, Tsagkarakis wandered a local Dutch park, observing its shifting, dreamlike terrain and connecting with strangers and the natural world. An arduous recovery process — along with upheaval in adapting to an unfamiliar environment — triggered an inner quest for belonging and identity redefinition. Over several years Marinos routinely wandered through the park terrain, observing its nuances and dreamlike setting while interacting with strangers and all living things. In portraits he glimpses reflections of himself, where echoes of his own struggles are in dialogue with the tangled, evolving landscape.  Strawberry Blue feels out of kilter at times, like laughing while crying. It’s about resilience, persistence and growing new roots… We are invited on this journey with minds open to the unknown, allowing the path ahead to lead us where it will. It is unknown whether affected communities will continue to rebuild with an outlook of uncertainty, or if the worst affected regions of the country will be forgotten. As we prepare for the festival, we’re sharing some lovely images by @oscar_j_dooley of other titles we’ll have with us, including some final copies ✨ 1-2 In Meat, Fish & Aubergine Caviar by @alexblancofoto  , her intimate work reflects on Ukrainian and Odesan culture through the prism of food and family, as she reconnects with her parents during her father’s recovery from an illness. With a vibrant orchestra of photographs made in Odessa's outdoor food markets, of colourful vegetables and table settings, we are drawn into the family home where humour and performance lighten the mood around the table. The book features three favourite recipes as told to Alex by her mum Yevheniia 🥩🐟🍆 3-4 In Desire Lines by @lara.shipley  , her work looks at migration as an inherently human act – one that has defined human history and the geopolitical framework of our planet. Mixing time and perspective, Desire Lines follow old and new movements through the desert landscape of the Sonoran borderlands of the United States and Mexico: paths taken by migrants and border agents, of missionaries and conquistadors, of indigenous people and industrialists. Readers are pulled into the viewpoint of migrants crossing this deadly desert terrain with the hope of entering the US, and observe how the messy and at times violent collision of peoples has created a region that defies the harmfully simplistic narratives so frequently attributed to our borders 👣🏜️   5 We also have two copies of FASTIDIOSA by @caimipiccinni with a dramatic mix of black and white analogue portraits, landscapes, and colour images of scientific research. Hello to All from LDN, it’s Tiffany from @overlapse back again for this @BOP_bristol takeover. Yesterday we shared our upcoming title Sound the Sirens and will have first copies at the festival. For BOP last year, we had first copies of Thinking Like an Island which many of you came around to see - thank you!! Sharing it was an emotional experience all around, as we all discovered the book for the first time together! Now in its second printing (with silver foil on the cover), Thinking Like an Island features @camillamarrese and @gabrielechiapparini ’s exploratory images as they navigate the treacherous land and seascapes of a small, but half-mile high, island.  Along with captivating landscapes the book shares portraits of the few residents that live on the remote island, quotes from their stories about daily life, and the photographers’ own diary extracts. The amalgamation is a poetic, philosophical dialogue about comprehending the wider world through the perspective of a solitary microcosm. Identity construction; clash and coexistence, choice and confinement, innovation and resistance. The experience is stratified, plural and dense; a vertigo of increasing complexity.  The book design, made across four books that open into expanded spreads, was imagined to place the viewer at the centre of an unfolding 360-degree horizon, to engage a journey of discovery as the sequence unravels into a multitude of possibilities. If you’ve read this far and want to know a ‘secret’ - just a few days ago we discovered the calculation of potential viewable spreads to be (on or around) 614,656 🌟 - all bound into a 17x22 cm book form! 🙌 What an adventure it’s been to share this work with those who come round to visit at the fairs!
