The Ending Writes Itself By @evelynclarkewrites   Book Review   ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️   Bravo! This is another book that came with a lot of hype, and it lived up to it … and some!   The story was brilliantly executed, the pace spot on and the atmosphere superbly crafted.   Characters were well-defined and well-structured.  It felt like we were in a mystery right from page one, even before there was anything to solve.   I totally loved it and will be talking about this for a long time to come! #bookreview #newreading #thrillerbooks #readingreview #bookrecomendations

Saturday Haiku I did one of these last month and people seemed to like it, so I’ve been playing around with titles of books and come up with another haiku made from book titles The Man Who Died Twice So You Think You’ve Got Problems Three Act Tragedy Thanks to: @misterosman Alex Bellos Agatha Christie For their titles. Can you come up with a Haiku? Tag me if you have a go, I’d love to see. #bookstagramcommunity #bookchallenge #crimefictionbooks

It’s Not What You Think By @claremackwrites   Book Review   ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️   There has been so much hype around this book - including Clare being unreservedly excited herself - that I was a little nervous going into it.  Sometimes lots of hype can make you feel really let down by what normally would be a very good book.   This is not the case here! I loved it and found it such a compelling read. The first twist, we knew from the publicity that there was one coming, I was looking for.  I had so many ideas and theories as to what it could be, but I didn’t expect that! Some later twists I did get, but I don’t consider that a bad thing. It allows me to delude myself that I could actually be smart! 🤪   There is a lot more I’d like to say about this book, but can’t because it would be wrong to give away any plot spoilers or themes.   Thanks Clare - a truly gripping twisty novel! #bookreview #newreading #thrillerbooks #readingreview #bookrecomendations

Four 4 Thursday @ellygriffiths17 is my Four 4 Thursday post this week. I have read all of Elly’s books (except her romance books under her real name) and love them all, about time I spotlighted her in this post. 🔍 A favourite book by this author? The Last Remains. So hard to pick a favourite here! It had to be the Ruth Galloway series purely because of the personal connection with the settings and the memories I have. But then which one? I picked the final book of the series because it is was a satisfying ending, at least for now… 🤞 🔍 A book that this author has endorsed. The Red Shore by @william1shaw ‘Crime fiction at its very best’ 🔍 A book by an author who has endorsed Elly Griffiths Wrong Place Wrong Time by @gillianmauthor ’Inventive, surprising, endlessly entertaining with a protagonist readers will love’ 🔍 If you liked this book, you’ll love… A Fatal Obsession by Faith Martin You really cannot go wrong with Elly’s books. Of course The Frozen People is on the longest for Theakston’s Crime Book of the Year, you still have time to vote if you haven’t already head over to @harrogatefestivals #bookrecomendations #crimefictionbooks #authorspotlight #newreading #bookstagramchallenge

A Calculated Murder By @jocunninghamwriter   Book Review   ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️   I loved the audiobook ‘Death by Numbers’ - which introduced us to actuary Una McMurray - so I didn’t hesitate to consume this one by audio too.   Rose Robinson’s narration is spot on, and this time takes our actuary team into the world and serious business of cat shows.  They discover that someone seems to be targeting the owners of the favourites for the Balham International Cat Show and Una is determined to work out who, despite the personal risk.   This is a really light, uplifting, quirky cosy mystery – brilliant for any of you looking for some light amidst the darkness. #bookreview #newreading #cosycrime #readingreview #bookrecomendations

Memorial Park By Louisa Scarr (@samhollandbooks )   Book Review   ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️   The second book in the Lucy Halliday series (or should that be the Moss and Iggy series), and Louisa’s second 5 star read from me.   These characters are so brilliantly crafted – it’s as if you are by their side throughout.  This one focuses on DCI Jack Ellis’ childhood trauma as a missing child stirs up his tragic past.   I absolutely love this series and have the next one lined up and ready to go. #bookreview #newreading #thrillerbooks #readingreview #bookrecomendations

The Beasts of Black Loch By @gaymarrisauthor   Book Review   ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️   This book was meant to be! We went to Birmingham just over a month ago and that morning I had seen someone post about this here on Instagram. Of course, we went into Waterstones and there it was on the new release shelf!  I was intrigued, so it had to come home with me.  I was so glad it did, it was a spectacular read!   I thoroughly enjoyed it: the plotting, the characters and the natural history examples that litter this book.  Dr Ava Dickens is a fabulous main character – so many dimensions to her.   It was a fascinating read but it was the explanation of the crime that put it to 5 stars.  It was so well plotted, how all the very small things came together and were explained absolutely brilliantly.  Every one was key to the solution and it made perfect sense.   Brilliant start to a series! #bookreview #newreading #thrillerbooks #readingreview #bookrecomendations

Four 4 Thursday @vaseemkhanwriter is my Four 4 Thursday post this week. I have loved all of Vas’ different series and would recommend anything he writes. 🔍 A favourite book by this author? The Girl in Cell A. A favourite was a hard choice there are all the Malabar House books, Inspector Chopra, The Theakston’s nominated Quantum of Menace…but this one really blew me away and you don’t see enough people talking about it. 🔍 A book that this author has endorsed. The Killer Question by @janice.hallett ‘You’ll never look at pub quizzes the same way again’ 🔍 A book by an author who has endorsed Vaseem Khan The Final Vow by @m.w.craven ’IA superbly paced and plotted thriller’ 🔍 If you liked this book, you’ll love… Hunted by @radiomukhers I will always recommend Vas’ books, such an intelligent writer, and if you haven’t read the Girl in Cell A it’s available in hardback, but the paperback release is scheduled for 30th July. #bookrecomendations #crimefictionbooks #authorspotlight #newreading #bookstagramchallenge
