For a decade, the flames of Nuclear Phoenix have burned brightly across the UK and beyond. In 2026, those flames come to rest, as team members join the united @nuclearessexteam and others set out on new paths. Every ending leaves embers; every ember holds a phoenix. 🐦‍🔥

July Race Round Up First up, the inaugural OCR 400m European Championship. A really great first event put on by @ocrireland . I loved that the opening ceremony finished in the pub, exactly the vibes our sport should be taking. Sometimes we take ourselves too seriously. The elite races were super competitive less so in age groups, but I enjoyed racing, and hey I can still claim I was one of the first Age Group OCR 400m European Champions as I came away within the win. My obstacle game wasn’t 100% where I wanted it to be however, so it certainly stoked the training fire. I was also very grateful to be part of the @chris_j_harriss dream team with @ninja.nigel and @cookie_ocr_uk . As para has relatively small numbers in OCR currently para teams are supported by able bodied athletes. We smashed each of our legs and came away with gold. We even got the national anthem played at the podium ceremony - bucket list ✅ I then had a double race weekend at the back end of July… with the Tough Mudder Yorkshire @uk.ocr Series race. Essentially raced almost the whole 15K in fourth place, with Kenny Sams in hot pursuit the whole way around. I got close to @jason_brunnock a few times, but every time I did he put on the afterburners. So fourth it was…. and some solid series points. It was a long drive home, and then a drive to @nuclearwildforest for the @3km_ocr_seriesuk race. The main aim was to give Jayan some race experience, but I might as well race while I’m there. I had no expectation and went out nice and relaxed. I do love the Nuclear course and obstacles and they suit my racing style. 3Ks are run in a time trial format, I led my wave from the start and make some good progress through the two waves in front of me. No obstacle failures and a really strong race, put me in third place. For my first 3K series elite podium. Very happy with how the race came together. Jayan also ran really well coming in 7th in the 10-13 AG. So impressed with the skills, check out the Phoenix Rising video! Shout out to PhoenixHarry on his AG win…. rapid 🔥

🥉UKOCR series race 5 Back out on a Tough Mudder course this morning its only been 8 years since my last one 😆 Cracking route nice to have a few hills in the mix. But it might take a few days to pick all the thistles out of my feet 😂 Kudos to @danieltitcomb95 for yet another win and to @phoenixdas who after finishing 2nd then continued on running laps of the course for the next 8hrs. Brilliant day at the first-ever Rumble Trophy! 🏆 Took on both the 400m and 3K courses — fast and full of challenge. The rain was relentless, but I loved every second of it 🌧️💪 Came away with first place, which I’m really proud of but more than that, it was just one of those days where everything clicked. British OCR 12K+ Championship… 5th 🇬🇧 elite 💪💪💪💪 Really happy with my performance and my best classic champs course finish ever 🇬🇧 🇬🇧 🇬🇧 After a fast start, I settled in around 10th position and slowly but surely made my way up the field. The @nuclearraces competitive wave is interesting, as you have to complete the single attempt obstacles first time in the men’s elite or you’ll lose too much time - but then there are so many additional obstacles that require agility and confidence with loads of possibilities to gain time. That is what I did - played it safe on all the rigs and then went full send everywhere else. Shout out to @therunnerbeanuk and @danieltitcomb95 on being crowned British OCR 12K+ Champions 2025. Thank you to @nuclearraces , Champs RD @dave.peters86 , BOS Technical Officials, Nuclear marshals, and everyone who helped to make it happen. The course and racing was fantastic. Putting on these events takes a lot of work. Your support as @britishobstaclesports members really helps us to develop the sport and ensures we can help to organise more events like this. Thank you also to @espeenberget for joining us from Norway, he was our first international athlete over the line and third overall in the @uk.ocr Series. 400m OCR sprint time trial @theptbarn Today was my first attempt at a 400m course. The course set up by Scotty was awesome with 16 obstacles put into the short distance. Really happy with how I ran and managed to come away with 1st place male with a time of 2:41. Now to plan for Ireland! Last weekend I got to head back to Gothenburg (I used to live and work here) for my very first @toughviking . It was nice to be joined by around 20 other Brits too 🇬🇧 It was a great race with a good variety of obstacles - I especially liked the technical running, the 80kg atlas lift less so, but I know what I need to work on ahead of the OCR World Champs that are back here in September. I can’t wait…Tough Viking ran a great, well organised race and I know more obstacles are being added. I finished 27th in the Elite race, second Brit and the first Masters athlete over the line. It was fun to tussle back and forth with the other Brits and a few of the international athletes I know. The training feels like it is going in the right direction…. next up @britishobstaclesports 400m National Trials and then the 12K British OCR Champs. A much better result and performance today in the @uk.ocr Series at @tartan_warrior . 8th place and snuck on the Masters podium after some stiff competition from @ninja_steve25 and @ramzey_pt behind me. Shout out to Gavin and teammate @phoenixdas for being a class apart for the Masters podium. Also, to all the Phoenix team on their performances, so many great results. I’ll give a special mention to our newest team member @chris_j_harriss for his podium yesterday, and of course Miraya for retaining her AG 3K Champs crown. Well done to @gavinhogarthocr and everyone else involved for organising a great event. I really enjoyed the whole weekend with great community support both from TOs/volunteers and also supporters in the sidelines as well. Now time for some focussed training ahead of the British OCR 12K+ Champs at @nuclearraces on May 10th. Let’s go 🚀 From a @britishobstaclesports perspective we continue to learn how to grow and develop the sport. We’ll continue to take on board feedback and improve.
