The State granted San Francisco a variance today to allow us to move more flexibly with re-opening. Mayor @londonbreed and I visited our friends at the @sanfranciscozoo today and met London the Lemur! . We know you have all been patiently awaiting this moment! Zoo members will have access on Monday and Tuesday. General admission will start on Wednesday, July 1st. Be sure to reserve your spot online before coming . I want to commend Director Tanya Peterson and the dedicated Zoo staff who took care of the animals during the closure and went to great lengths to prepare for re-opening. They planned far in advance to make sure the experience is enjoyable while keeping it safe for all of you. There will be modifications to reduce risk of exposure to the virus, but not enough to dampen your spirits. We can’t wait for families to enjoy our treasured zoo again! The giraffes were surely glad to get some extra snacks today! #zoo #childfriendlycities #Nature #WildlifeConservation #FamilyTime

Marching down Ocean Avenue with @philting with families and children of all ages. It’s never to early to learn about systemic racism & oppression. and how to fight against it in every form. These youth will lead the way. #BlackLivesMatter #JusticeforGeorgeFloyd #JusticeforBreonnaTaylor #EndRacism

Presenting the newest Planning Commissioner: Theresa Imperial! She has some big shoes to fill in serving out Commissioner Myrna Melgar's term, but Theresa is more than up to the task! . Theresa comes in with a decade of experience working deeply and collaboratively across San Francisco neighborhoods, especially communities most impacted by displacement. As the Executive Director of the Bill Sorro Housing Program, she worked with residents firsthand on affordable housing and land use issues. Theresa is also comprehensive in her lens on community-led planning development; understanding that different neighborhoods have different needs. Now more than ever, we need leaders who have a clear vision for the future of San Francisco and who have deep roots working with the communities who have the most to lose. . I am excited for Theresa to bring her unique perspective to the Commission and look forward to working with her in her new role. (And I am also proud that Theresa, like Myrna, is also a #District7 resident!) . Thank you to my colleagues on the Board of Supervisors for unanimously supporting her appointment and a special note of gratitude to the community organizations who also encouraged her throughout this process! Congratulations Theresa! #RepresentationMatters #PublicService #CommunityPlanning

Proud to ride in the Chinese New Year Parade with my family! It’s my last one as Supervisor! Thanks to all the parade organizers and volunteers who make this possible every year! This is the largest celebration outside Asia and we should continue supporting this tradition! #GungHayFatChoy #YearoftheRat @chineseparade

Special shoutout to Planning Commissioner Myrna Melgar for stopping by! Did you know the Forest Hill Clubhouse recently turned 💯?! Today I joined Mayor @londonbreed and the Office of Transgender Initiatives to kick off Trans Awareness Month in #SanFrancisco. While the White House Administration continues to rip apart basic human rights and civil liberties, we will double down on our efforts to serve and protect everyone with dignity. Proud to join Supervisor @rafaelmandelman and @matthaneysf in supporting @transhomesf to ensure that transgender residents are able to find safe housing. Later this month, we will also be celebrating Trans Awareness Month for the first time at the Board of Supervisors highlighting transgender leaders in our community. No one should ever live in fear for being who they are and being their authentic selves. We need to do more, but this is a start. #translivesmatter🌈✊
