Proud to have spoken this morning at the CA Civil Rights Summit. ✊
I was part of the panel on California's leadership in fighting hate — invited because during my time as a State Assemblymember, I helped secure the original state budget funding that made this work possible.
From legislation to reporting systems to community support — California has built something real. Today we talked about what's at stake and how we move forward together.
Grateful for every advocate, organizer, and leader in that room. 🙏

California voters have spoken on electricity affordability — and the numbers are striking.
🔌 83% want lower power bills prioritized by lawmakers
📊 86% want utilities to prove grid efficiency before new spending
💰 86% support tying utility exec pay to affordability
The California Electricity Affordability Pathway is the roadmap. The solutions exist. Now we need the legislative will.

Join me on May 11th in San Francisco! Thrilled to be presenting at the California Civil Rights Summit. Register at /summit to attend. At a time when so many of our neighbors are feeling the impacts of hate and division, this summit offers a space rooted in story sharing, healing, and building solidarity to advance civil rights and confront hate in California.
Reflecting on the Clean Energy Affordability Summit in Sacramento a week and a half later — and the takeaway has only sharpened.
So grateful to have co-hosted with California Forward, and UC Davis Energy and Efficiency Institute. Lawmakers, industry leaders, and advocates came together around one clear truth: California can meet its energy needs AND bring down costs for families — without relying on fossil fuels. The answer is scaling home battery storage, Virtual Power Plants, and smarter grid utilization.
This is exactly the work we’re driving at Deploy Action — turning good policy into real savings for ratepayers.

Amazing night kicking off the Ling-Chi Wang Endowment Fund at @ucberkeleyofficial Asian American Research Center. Wonderful to see so many classmates and professors and staff who I have known for over 30 years
Grateful to @cagovernor@gavinnewsom for stopping by the Accelerating the Transition conference! Thank you for your decades-long commitment to climate and for forging the solutions we need to get this transition done. #ClimateAction #CleanEnergy #California #EnergyTransition #Sustainability #ClimateLeadership #DeployAction
Powerful conversations at the Accelerating the Transition conference!
Big thanks to Tom Soto for moderating a fantastic panel on expanding and fast-tracking wind, solar, biomass, geothermal, and energy storage projects. And major shout-outs to Jeff Johnson, Mayte Sanchez, and Alex Vovk for an honest, on-the-ground look at how clean energy projects get built — and what's still standing in the way.
The energy transition isn't theoretical. It's happening, one project at a time.

Sunday morning well spent. 🌤️
Proud to represent Deploy Action at the Accelerating The Transition conference — what a way to kick off #SFClimateWeek!
Transmission capacity, grid access, and smarter electricity utilization aren’t the flashiest topics, but they may be the most important ones we need to get right. Today’s conversations gave me real optimism about where things are headed.
Let’s go. ⚡

I’m looking forward to speaking at Accelerating the Transition on April 18-20 in San Francisco. This kick-off to #SFClimateWeek is a unique conference, bringing together leaders in government, clean tech, investing, and policy to discuss real world solutions for a clean energy transition.
If you want to talk with people who are actually making the clean energy transition happen in their cities and states, and the companies and investors that are empowering them, this is the event for you.

I helped build California's virtual power plant. Here's why it matters for YOUR electricity bill. ⚡
In 2022, I authored the legislation that created DSGS — a program that pays California homes and businesses to share their rooftop solar and battery power with the grid when demand is highest.
No new power plants. No fossil fuels. Just smarter use of clean energy that Californians already have.
📊 1+ gigawatt of clean capacity enrolled
💰 Every $1 invested = up to $2 in ratepayer savings
🌡️ Responded 16 times during 2024 heatwaves — zero blackouts
🌍 Zero emissions
The budget deadline to keep this program alive is June 15. I'm proud to be working with @deployaction to fight for affordable, reliable clean energy for every Californian.

Big news for San Francisco Chinatown! 🏮🏙️
Five years ago, I fought to secure $26.5 million in state funding to help CMAC (Chinatown Media and Arts Collaborative) purchase their first site at 800 Grant Ave. Yesterday, that investment reached a historic new milestone: CMAC has officially purchased the legendary Empress of China building!
The Empress of China is one of the most iconic landmarks in our city, boasting some of the most breathtaking views of San Francisco. Now, it will be transformed into a permanent cultural destination and the anchor of a new "cultural campus" in the heart of Chinatown.
As CMAC Co-Executive Director Mabel Teng said, this is a direct response to erasure and a way to build "cultural power" for our immigrant communities.
I am so proud to have played a part in laying the financial foundation for this dream. I can’t wait to see this space become a hub for arts, media, and community for decades to come!
