Sunday’s UNFOLD 🤯
Trans+ people were not just visible at this edition of UNFOLD. We were front and centre, dancing in every room, playing every set. It was eclectic, it was defiant, it was jubilant, it was emotional…. Because that’s what trans lives are like 🥰 But most importantly, it was our edition 🏳️⚧️
I had the honour of playing the closing set in the Main Room, which was my first time closing FOLD 🥲 Tysm to all my friends for joining me for this :) Such an amazing experience and I cannot describe how special it was to look up and be surrounded by so many trans people!! I had goosebumps. Sharing those feelings of euphoria with others who have gone through the same experience and understand why I’m playing those euphoric tracks… We did that set together 💖
In this increasingly risk averse music industry, opportunities for trans people are so rare, especially when bigoted billionaires and beuracrats want to wipe us off the planet. But this day did happen. Thanks to our amazing artists. And it was extraordinary.
Trust in trans people and you get something magical. We’ve got so many stories all bottled up, just waiting to share.
Line-ups are amazing, but real change comes behind the scenes by employing trans people in positions of power. This is the fourth year of us organising an all trans/ nb line-up at UNFOLD and every one of these editions has been an out of this world experience. This year we fundraised for the amazing work of
@thegoodlawproject .
Thank you to
@voicedrone for the invitation to close this edition and the constant support of these trans editions,
@karolina_magm2 for your fabulous care as always, and finally special mention to
@ryanash1812 on the lights who put so much time, care and love in creating a bespoke lighting set-up for this UNFOLD, all revolving around the colours of the trans flag 💖
