Leo joined us for the latest Esquire Sessions with Editor-in-Chief @teovandenbroeke to talk about his brilliant new @blackbearuk film, Tuner - co-starring Dustin Hoffman and out on 29 May - his casting in Lord of the Rings, and the slightly surreal reality of going from The White Lotus and One Day heartthrob to one of the busiest men in Hollywood.
Arriving in a trucker hat and Hermès loafers, he seemed genuinely bemused by his own success, which made the whole thing all the more charming. Funny, open, self-deprecating.
Have absolutely adored working alongside @natalieazannikos helping to bring Esquire’s live event series to life since its inception at the end of last year - and it’s only getting bigger and better, with some big names to come 👀

And just like that, your first heavenly birthday is here.
It falls today on David Attenborough’s 100th birthday - reminding me, just like you always told me, that every life is a roll of the dice. (See second slide - the text you sent after I told you about watching Dame Deborah James' documentary that I pretty much hold as gospel now!) We could have had another quarter of a century together. But then I think how lucky we all were to have almost 74 years of you on this planet at all.
It also falls on the local elections (😱) - politics, one of the things that united us most in compassion and conversation. Two huge liberal free thinkers, not always aligned, but always caring deeply about people and the world around us. I miss debating everything with you. You had this incredible way of making the world feel less overwhelming - grounding things with intelligence, perspective and warmth.
I miss kissing your soft Irish skin and I miss the softness of your presence most of all.
I’m so proud of Mum and me, and how strong we’ve been. I know you would be too. Especially Mama, travelling down to London solo with her backpack, rising to meet the biggest loss of her life with such bravery and resilience.
Thank you Jack for this little surprise this morning! 🥃 We will be raising a glass tonight, for sure.
