April. The sun came out, the shorts went on, and the roof came off. Garden baths and Bowie shows. Met some icons. Listened to some others (loved Famesick and London Falling). Book clubs, kid marathon, excellent short films and very blue hair. Oh and judged a smelliest cheese competition (def the highlight!) Finally, a whiff of warmer things to come.
‘Optimism might be Fanning’s defining trait. She radiates positivity: wide smiles, eager curiosity and hopeful quips. It’s easy to see why the biggest auteurs want to capture it on film. But she’s quick to push back on the idea that it comes from naivety. ‘Sometimes, optimism can be seen as immature. People say to me, “You don’t know yet; you’ll see.” But I have seen a lot. I have been through hardships. It’s how you tackle those things that makes you who you want to be.’ She focuses. ‘I am soft, yes, but I also have a temper’.’

Tokyo! 72 hours in the world’s greatest city for the world’s greatest gig. Not many artists I’d fly 26 hours to see but Bad Bunny is the one. And yes, I watched Lost in Translation en route and on the way home on the plane, very best film.

Rain, sauna, rinse, repeat. Managed to run away to Peaks for a few magical nights of rainy walks and the most beautiful stay @thetawnyhotel Boathouse (the turret was basically Traitors! And we barely left the heated pool!!)
