We're excited to announce three events as part of @hayfestival 's digital programme on 23 24 and 25 May! 📚 - Link in bio for more info and to register 🔗 - Through our Trans.MISSION II project, NERC and Hay joined three storytellers up with teams of environmental researchers to find creative new methods of #ScienceCommunication. Join us to enjoy the three incredible works of #CreativeWriting that resulted, and hear their insights into the links between #ScienceAndArt. - Sat 23 May: To engage the Peruvian public with the plight of melting Andean #glaciers and the devastating effects for #Peru, storyteller @erika_stockholm teamed up with glaciology experts to create 'Glacier Shallap, or The Sad Tale of a Dying Glacier' - Sun 24 May: Colombian activist and writer Juan Cárdenas worked with #socioecology researchers to create harrowing short story 'Espiral', which imagines a dystopian future where Colombians' rights to connect with nature are warped by powerful interests. - Mon 25 May: See the premier of new story 'Day Zero and Chips' by award-winning author @lawrencepatrice , crafted to connect the public with #drought issues. This session also sees the launch of a new animation by @chrishaughton that brings the three projects together. - Link in bio for more information #storytelling #scicomm #environmentalscience #animation #hayfestival2020 #sciencestorytelling #shortstories #colombia #chrishaughton

Let me go! This southern fulmar landed on a polar research ship and needed some help taking off again. Fulmars often follow research ships, but it's rare for them to crash land! @britishantarcticsurvey researcher Huw helped the bird get back into the air. He needed thick gloves - look at that hooked beak! 😧Video: Mona Lütjens
