Mark! is the May @archdigest cover girl. I'm so proud of you. @markgrattan and I made eye contact walking down Putnam 7 years ago and met for the first time a few weeks later at brunch (an incredible feast hosted by @mennlay ) in Mexico City. What unfolded over many meals & mezcal in CDMX was my admiration for Mark’s dedication to his work and his rigor, meticulousness, and thoughtfulness towards design — how our eyes and bodies experience his art. How generous he’s been with me around his spaces and how grateful I am to have my work on his walls. Peeking out from the bedroom is a picture of Mark's old living room from 2021. & Untitled (hotboxing), 2025, sits in the dining room. ♠ In good company with artwork by Paul Sepuya and Clifford Prince King throughout the apartment. In 2023, I made my first albumen prints at @penumbrafoundation as an AIR with @morgan_post_studio . I'm obsessed with the surface, the slowness, the serendipity, the imperfections. After feeling so tired of screens mediating my experience of photography, and despite teaching b&w darkroom, I was seduced by the color and the idea of making work about parenthood and pregnancy while using egg to treat and create the surface of these prints. Artist @naimagreen was blessed with a matriarch she called Aunt Dot, who lived 95 years. Aunt Dot foresaw a family for Green, so she prepared by filling a hope chest with hand-knit baby clothes and elegantly embroidered linens. When she passed in 2023, Green felt bereft, losing a woman she loved, and the dream nurtured since she was a teen. Here in the sacred space of possibility, Green began to imagine “prosthetic lives” – versions of a woman with her face and her body bearing child and building a community of like minds. She purchased a prosthetic pregnancy belly in 2023, not quite knowing where this instinct would lead. A year later, Green returned to that moment of conception, this time with curator Elizabeth Sherman, to explore the profound possibilities, mysteries, and taboos that the promise of new life holds. Weaving together a series of constructed self-portraits, landscapes, and still life, Green crafts an intimate series of tableaux for Instead, I spin fantasies, now on view at the International Center of Photography in New York. Read in full at the 🔗 in bio. ✍️ Miss Rosen 📸 @naimagreen

Opening on Oct 16—ICP is proud to present Naima Green: Instead, I spin fantasies. This exhibition grapples with the concept of pregnancy through constructed self-portraits, landscapes and still-lifes. Blurring the line between documentary and performance, @naimagreen probes the conventional expectations of motherhood and creates an expanded space for considering the experience of pregnancy in America. Curated by Guest Curator Elisabeth Sherman. Learn more about this exhibition by visiting the link in ICP's bio. Image: Naima Green, Half on a baby (DonChristian), 2025. © Naima Green
