✨ Reverse Alchemy: What an incredible experience! A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us last Friday for the show. Your presence made it all the more special, and we hope you enjoyed exploring these artistic applications of XR technology as much as we enjoyed sharing them with you. šŸŽ¤ A special shout-out to @davemeckin for hosting our panel discussion and to my brilliant fellow panelists @studio_oriel @nathandavidsmith @petrazhivkova for such an inspiring conversation about the role of Art and Design in XR. šŸ‘ Huge thanks to @carolina_ramirezfigueroa for leading this ambitious project and inviting me to be a part of it. Last week marked the culmination of intense work, creative experimentation, and an extraordinary team effort. Reverse Alchemy was a lovely collaborative exploration of how art and design can shape sustainable, magical, and uncanny futures. I’m honored to have contributed to this journey!

October was an amazing month! I was lucky enough to present my VR project ā€˜Amber Dell’ at @londonbreezefilmfestival and the @dutchdesignweek šŸ™ŒšŸ™ŒšŸ™ŒšŸ™Œ Instances like these are really important to the development of the work, since I get to carry out user research and identify the strengths and failures of the work. They’re also really cool to meet interesting people working in the field! I wrote a case study with some of the findings of these two events, you can check it out in my website. I will keep working in ā€˜Amber Dell’ throughout November, and will be showing it around Battersea on early December! Stay tuned for more info.

Culture Mining (2024) by Nahuel Basterretche @nahbaste as a part of MA Information Experience Design @rcaied The piece consists of installation consisting of an algae colony in a fishtank and an orange glowing acylic box standing atop a black metal server rack. ā€˜Culture Mining: an abusive relationship between a computer system and a cyanobacteria colony’ consists of a cyanobacteria culture and a computer system, which monitors and manipulates the culture’s conditions of growth. The computer gathers data from multiple sensors, and modifies the temperature, motility and light conditions of the cyanobacteria colony. This system is programmed to maximize the gathering of movement data. This results in a cycle of care and stress upon the cyanobacteria, forcing it to be in constant motion. The piece makes use of Arduinos for driving the lights and sensors and a raspberry pi to execute the main logic. The raspberry pi is running an OpenFrameworks project which is handling the data interpretation using OpenCV. I received extensive help from the physical computing team at White City, specially Pietro Bardini and Mike Faulkner. This piece was shown at the festival of communication at White City

šŸŒāœØ V&A and RCA presents: A World of Many Worlds āœØšŸŒ Join us for hybrid digital-analogue artworks from the MA * Information Experience Design* graduates, exploring the multiplicity of worlds that make up the one we see every day šŸ‘ļø šŸ—“ Friday, 20 September 2024 - Sunday, 22 September 2024 Friday - 18.30 – 22.00 // Saturday - 10.30 – 17.00 // Sunday 10.30 – 17.00 šŸ“ V&A South Kensington @vamuseum Through this showcase, we arise diverse perspectives through the senses, human and nonhuman relationships, unconscious impulses, and the emergence of many intelligences. Special drop-in activity part of Digital Design Weekend, a free digital art and design festival taking place on 20-22 September. 1ļøāƒ£ The Latent Chair by @jjang.jiwon This project explores how AI perceives chairs and how humans might follow AI’s way of thinking. By looking at chairs from different angles, taking them apart, and then putting them back together into new structures, it shows a departure from AI, highlighting human creativity. 2ļøāƒ£ The Living Room by @nahbaste @jane.lee.jane @vaishakhi2281923 This interactive installation challenges participants to work together in maintaining a delicate ecosystem. The environment reacts to human presence. Areas with little activity fade, while overused zones wear down. Visitors must find a balance between activity and restraint to keep the installation healthy. Textiles by MINGYES @ming_yes_ 3ļøāƒ£ It is not what is in it but it is what it is in by @nathandavidsmith AI-powered computers use human data to assess and alter the world. Two AIs talk to each other in a loop: one AI manipulates the world it sees, while the other tells it what to change. Meanwhile, a group of AIs talk about this new reality. 4ļøāƒ£ Machine Yearning by @yaashikagoel ā€˜Machine Yearning’ invites you to imagine alternative futures with emerging Artificial Intelligence. In dialogue with our everyday longing for change, the AI patterns, glitches, and iterates to learn what it means to yearn. Nahuel Basterretche @nahbaste builds software-hardware-wetware hybrids that explore information processing, identity, emergence and complexity. Culture Mining is an installation exploring artificial sensing, mastery and control through data. It puts into question the dynamics surrounding data gathering and communication between human and non-human agents. Nahuel is exhibiting an installation at Specctra TÄ¦ĆS TĦUŘSÐĀŸ 20ȚĦ JÛŅĒ at @peckham_audio
